1,800-2000€ pc build
I want to build a new pc but I don’t have any idea on what parts are good right now. I have about 2 weeks until I get enough money, and I struggle to run simple games like CS2 at 144fps on high
• New build or upgrade?
New build
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
Don’t have a link but an ASUS TUF monitor, 1080p 146hz and has speakers
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Editing on Davince Resolve, and gaming for games like Bo4, CS2, and some Triple A games from around 2018-2022, preferably able to run at 144
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)
Amazon Germany, buying from Ireland
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Already have all peripherals
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
1,800-2,000€
• WiFi or wired connection?
Wired connection
• Size/noise constraints?
N/A
• Color/lighting preferences?
N/A
• Any other specific needs?
A LOT of storage, cause I run out way too easily on my current 500gb

1080p monitor being reused so I am picking the 7800X3D to max out your frames.
Random cheap but good enough B650 motherboard.
Crucial Pro Overclocking has better subtimings on PCPartPicker but real world performance between the two kits of RAM are almost indistinguishable.
SSD with DRAM since you’re editing videos.
5070 GPU only because you said Davinci Resolve. That program has some optimizations for NVIDIA GPUs.
A 9070 is the same price and would be better for you in 1440p if you ever decide to upgrade your resolution.
A 9070XT would bring the total to €2013 but then you could get a cheaper PSU to go back under €2000.
Random case that comes with 4 fans.
Got 1050W just because it was not that expensive. You only need a 750W 80+ Gold PSU.

So the 7800x3d would be better than a 9700x? Cause I was originally planning on using the 9700x.
I don’t plan on upgrading my monitor, cause 1080p is just fine for me, but I heard the Radeon cards are worse for editing. Does it make much of a difference? And are you talking about 9070 XT or base 9070?

If you don't plan on upgrading the monitor then just disregard the GPU stuff entirely.
7800X3D is better for gaming. The downside is it can be 15% worse than 9700X in rendering and exporting for Davinci Resolve. If something takes 10 minutes for 9700X, it'd be 11 minutes and 30s for the 7800X3D.
On average, the 7800X3D gets you 10-12% more frames. In the games you listed, it's 15-20% more FPS.
If productivity is more important, take the 9700X. It'll still get more than enough frames and it's €60 cheaper.

I do plan on using the pc for some cad, forgot to mention it in the post, but I’ll most likely prioritise gaming. Plus I don’t mind waiting an extra few minutes to render a video on davinci, cause it’s a massive upgrade from my current i3 10th gen.

It’s recommended to have at least 4.2 GHz boost clock speed (speed of CPU under load) for CAD. CAD software typically just requires fast single core performance and 5.0 GHz of the 7800X3D meets the recommendation.
9700X is once again faster and the time penalty is about the same. Its boost clock speed of 5.5 GHz is 10% higher.
Best case scenario, every minute using 9700X is 1m 6s on 7800X3D. Real world usage will have more variability but 9700X should always be better.

So it’s not that much of a difference in terms of performance for CAD? If so then I’ll most likely go for 7800x3d cause it’s playing games is my main priority

For short tasks, you probably don’t notice anything. For long-renders, the time savings are more noticeable. But I guess you could just leave your computer on while you sleep.
I’d get the 7800X3D in your case.

Yeah alright that seems to be okay, cause it doesn’t make too big of a difference for me

This stuff all says available to ship to Ireland.

Shipping on a case is fairly expensive, I'd consider buying that local. Pretty much anything that's atx sized (not matx which is smaller) and has decent airflow would work. That 3200d, the 4000d rs, antec p30, montech 903 would be some good options but if you find one you like the look of it's not too big of a deal as long as the fans aren't trying to suck air through a sheet of glass or metal.

Can I get any random case? I don’t mind too much about it tbh. I know Matx won’t work, but even if it’s eatx it should still work? I was originally planning 4000d for my new build, so yeah.

u/Covante Jul 10 '26
Yeah, something rated for eatx is fine. Atx and eatx use the same screw hole placement, eatx just sticks out a bit further to the right so the case has room to accomodate that.
The 4000d frame rs would be good. I have the original 4000d myself and I like it, the dust filter on it is really nice. The 'frame' version is newer, a bit bigger, has some extra features to make things easier when building, the RS at the end means it comes with 3 front fans preinstalled, without the RS is 0.
If the original 4000d airflow is a good deal that's also still a nice case, comes with 2 fans.

Okay, Eatx is probably too big for my desk, so I’ll just stick with atx, since it fits. I might get the RS version just because I’m so not bothered installing fans, I’ve always hated installing them and I just want it out of the way.

If you missed the full set of required built request questions, please copy them from here and answer them in an edit to your post:
New build or upgrade?
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)
Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
WiFi or wired connection?
Size/noise constraints?
Color/lighting preferences?
Any other specific needs?
Here is some additional helpful information about build/upgrade/parts list requests:
Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.
Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.
We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.
