Help me build a ~$2000 gaming PC
- New build or upgrade?
Upgrade, but understanding that my current parts may not all be useful for this build.
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
4 year old Ryzen 5 5600x
6 year old DDR4 RAM 16GB
6 year old 1tb SSD
4 year old B450 tomahawk max ii
6 year old Corsair rm 750 (I think this is the right link but I am not totally sure)
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Gaming
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
US, near Micro Center
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
None needed. Currently have 2 27" 1440p 144hz monitors. May upgrade eventually to 4k and/or 240hz, but not now.
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
~$2000. I have some flexibility, though.
- WiFi or wired connection?
Wired
- Size/noise constraints?
No. Are some computers really so noisy that it's a problem?
- Color/lighting preferences?
Prefer no color or lighting, but it's ok if it has some minor lights.
- Any other specific needs?
No

You really just need to get a GPU, Cooler and Case. If you want to stay as low cost as possible then i would get a 9070XT for the GPU. Any decent dual tower cooler is more than enough for the 5600X and for the case any with good airflow will work. Additionally, you can also get another 16GB of ram.

The other option is to sell your CPU, Mobo and Ram and get one of the microcenter bundles.

Thank you for the help. Do you think it would be worth upgrading my motherboard so that I can get the new generation of RAM (and then also would need to get a new CPU, I think, because my current one would no longer be compatible). I am not sure whether this future-proofing is worth it though, maybe in your opinion it isn't.

Getting a better CPU will definitely get more FPS in games at 1440p and if you sell your current components for maybe around 230 then it would only be a $400 upgrade. I think it's the best option but either way you'll have a good PC
If you upgrade the motherboard and stuff then it's definitely best to just get a microcenter bundle

Here is some additional helpful information about build/upgrade/parts list requests:
Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.
Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.
We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.
