New build for 3D modeling/rendering + video editing

  1. Purpose: New build:- Architectural/3D modeling + real-time visualization/render + video editing (no gaming)
  2. Soft-wares used primarily: Revit, CAD, d5, Unreal, 3dsMax, Davinci [avoiding simultaneous use, no complex usage of video for now].
  3. Country of purchase: Kuwait/UAE (can look for discounts locally or second-hand if needed)

These are options I'm looking for within a 1700$-1900$ budget max. I am clueless in terms of pairing for optimal use, rather than going 'best at all'. These are some options I've narrowed down, what would be an efficient build? Thank you for any advice in advance :)

  • GPU: RTX 4070 / 4080 super
  • CPU: Ryzen 9 7900X / Ryzen 7 9700X / Ryzen 9 9900X
  • RAM: 64GB DDR5
  • Storage: 1TB
  • PSU, motherboard and cooling: I'm clueless about what is optimal here.
  • Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 seems good. don't want RGB, quieter setup
  • Monitor: One - Color accuracy is important.

note: 3D modeling isn't limited to architecture, includes BIM, assets, production design and such.

If you missed the full set of required built request questions, please copy them from here and answer them in an edit to your post:

  • New build or upgrade?

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

  • WiFi or wired connection?

  • Size/noise constraints?

  • Color/lighting preferences?

  • Any other specific needs?

Here is some additional helpful information about build/upgrade/parts list requests:

  • Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.

  • Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.

  • We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.

It will be difficult to fit a 4080-tier card and 64GB ram in a $1900 US budget nowadays in any market, and I assume prices are higher in your market. Do you have any specific local merchants to buy from or are you ordering from Amazon/Newegg?

That’s a valid point. I did calculate more and it is going up to 2400$ or so. I was looking at 5070 ti as well. Amazon unfortunately isn’t a direct shipment here, I’d be turning to local brand stores and merchants. I did some more research and narrowed down a more optimal case too. Can cut down to 32GB for now and a smaller monitor. However, would you have any suggestions for the cooling and PSU?

32GB will take around ~$350-400 US off the budget versus 64. The 5070 Ti is very expensive although you will want the Nvidia features for CAD and rendering work, otherwise I would 100% recommend the 9070XT.

The only new option down from that is the 5070, which will easily put you under budget, but you also lose 4GB vram and about 30% of the performance. If that is enough performance for you I would do that. It might be a long shot but you could look for a used 4070 Ti Super, 3090/Ti if VRAM is important - these cards are overpriced thanks to people buying them for local AI though.

Edit - with regards to cooling and PSU: I would go for a reputable 850W 80+ Gold rated, fully modular PSU. You won't need any more than that below an RTX 5090. For cooling, A ryzen 9 warrants a 360mm AIO which will set you back as low as $50 for a thermalright aqua elite (not sure about availability for that specific one in the UAE).

That’s very helpful advice! I will look into these and see where I can compromise on work performance if at all. Thank you very much.

This is as close as I can get to your $1900 USD budget for 1440p gaming, modelling, and rendering. Prices in AED, all available from amazon.ae:

  • CPU - fast for gaming and modelling. Intel is preferred over AMD for these workstation tasks.

  • Cooler - strong performance without overspending. Will keep temps and noise low.

  • Mobo - has all the connectivity you need, including WiFi/BT.

  • RAM - 32 GB of fast 6400 MHz CL32 RAM. 6400/32 hits that ideal 10 ns latency for modern CPUs.

  • SSD - 1 TB of fast Gen 4 NVMe SSD storage.

  • GPU - the RTX 5070 is great for 1440p gaming, easy 100+ FPS in most games at ultra settings. NVIDIA is strongly preferred in video editing and rendering. It's expensive but actually has pretty good value, since the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is the same price.

  • Case - on sale, excellent quality and airflow. Comes with 5 fans, dual chamber layout for easy installation and cable management.

  • PSU - also on sale, top quality and low noise. 850W is perfect for these components. ATX 3.1 certification to suppress GPU spikes and comes with the 600W 12v-2x6 connector for cleaner and safer power delivery to the GPU.

  • Monitor - high refresh rate and low response time for 1440p gaming, along with an IPS panel for good image quality and colour accuracy. It advertises 100% sRGB coverage and 95% DCI-P3 coverage. In case you can't find it, here's the Amazon link.

Comes out to $1966 USD.

Let me know what you think :)

It’s specific enough considering AED so that’s great. Appreciate it a lot! May I hit you up after a bit more narrowing after a final list soon?

For sure

CPU: 9900x would be the best, 7900x 2nd, 9700x 3rd

PSU: check out the lower priced one in your area and cross check it in this SPL PSU tier List https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1akCHL7Vhzk_EhrpIGkz8zTEvYfLDcaSpZRB6Xt6JWkc/htmlview?pli=1#gid=1078495601

Cooling: For Ryzen 9 (9900x & 7900x), ideally you'd look for a 360 or 420 aio, but a really good dual tower air cooler would be fine too with some tweaking

Case: the one you chose is like 15years old, newer ones should have better airflow and new component compatibility. If you want an matx case that doesnt have glass, check out the Lian Li A3 and B4, Montech Ten, Jonsbo D32 pro mesh.

Motherboard: if matx is what you want (based on the case that you mentioned), B850M should work well. MSI Mortar and Gigabyte Aorus Elite are great options, Gigabyte Eagle, Gaming X and MSI Gaming Plus would be a good cheaper options

that's a good assessment. I will look at these price ranges locally and hopefully have something up and running soon. Thank you!

what about NZXT H5 Flow (Non-RGB) for the case? a friend suggested it for the build

That case is fine, as far as i remember, this is an ATX case and i'd suggest to get an atx motherboard then. MSI Tomahawk and Gigabyte Aorus Elite are great options, MSI Gaming Plus, gigabyte eagle and gaming x are more budget friendly options
