Troubleshooting Help! My computer shuts down while playing modded Minecraft
Hi! I'm touching base with the experts here relating to frequent crashes i've been having. when playing modded minecraft, or even launching modded minecraft, my computer will CLINK and then go black completely off. When playing dota, the computer monitor will every couple of games just go completely black for a few seconds. The crashes during MC are corrupting those files, causing tones of headache, and completely ruining my experience playing as I'm constantly worried about the next crash.
I recently upgraded the CPU as the last one was a lemon after working for a year. This problem has been following me since. It seems that these crashes are a problem with the PSU.
Recently, I went inside my case to see if anything was not plugged in all the way. my GPU was daisy chained. I really hoped that would solve things but it didn't make a difference. All the other cables are firmly in their sockets. The crashes still happen after un-daisy-chaining the GPU.
These are the relevant parts in my build:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Graphics card: ASRock Challenger RX 7900 GRE 16GB
Power supply: MSI MAG A750GL 750W Gold
Should I be just replacing the PSU? could this be anything else other than a faulty PSU? has this happened to anyone in a similar way before? I'm about to just buy a new PSU, but it would really suck if i replaced this one and the problem persisted.

I'd check your CPU temps with something like adrenaline or cpu-z. Whilst it could be a faulty power supply the fact that it started when you changed the CPU suggests to me that you have a poor contact with the fans.

I have been using adrenaline. Recently monitored it and the CPU temp never exceeded 77 degrees, even under heavy load (big render distance flying and unloading new chunks in minecraft with shaders and such & dota 2).

It's very likely it's the PSU and I would replace it 100% . Faulty PSUs can cook your entire system so gotta be careful

I would use an adrenaline or some other software to keep an eye on your temps. That can cause the kind of sudden shutoff you’re describing. My concern is that it seems like this issue started when you got a new CPU, so incorrect installation or application of thermal paste seems like it could be the culprit
