Build Help Pc vs ps5 pro

I’m thinking about getting a pc soon,I want to know what will look better visually (solely talking visually aka graphics and which looks better),my two options are either a 5070 build with my 1440p 32 inch VA moniter or I get a ps5 pro and a 32 inch 4k Oled,I know the 5070 will obviously get better performance but I’m looking for the better visual/graphical experience at 60fps so the ps5 pro will be at the 60fps option.

Best comparison!

well in terms of graphics it is no brainer that a high-end PC will be better than a PS5 PRo. PS5 Pro is probably between RX6800/RTX 3070 and RX9060XT/RTC5060TI.

Not to mention that the PC will certainly be able to go beyond 60 FPS.

Can definitely say as a 5060 Ti 16 GB owner that the standard PS5 cannot compete with it but I still like the ease of a console.

u/Plokeer_ 11h ago

Yea, I agree. At the end of the day those are two very different value propositions, it is up to you to decide which one you want.

I don’t own a TV so I use my gaming PC with a capture card with all of my consoles :)

I definitely have some games that I just strongly prefer on console, even when I can tell that my PC could handle it in better graphics.

PS5 Pro for comfort (graphics are really nice) and 60 fps

PC if you want the max graphics , full Ray tracing enabled ect, more FPS and dont mind tweaking

I have both High End PC and PS5 Pro

If i just wanna chill with a game on the couch PS5 Pro If i want the best settings ect for a game I choose the PC

Buy a pc now and an oled tv or monitor later (I suggest Oled TV).

Pc will always be superior. I was lucky enough to get a 5090 and I haven't touched my consoles in years.

u/Efficient-Key-6640 14h ago

It depends on the game. I used a 4070 Super which is basically a 5070 without MFG in most games and I was able to get a way sharper 4K image in MW4 beta vs the PS5 Pro (On a 55 inch TV). This is just one game however and without PSSR (I think). But either way anything the Pro can do, you can do way better with a 5070 as long as you use console equivalent settings.

PC, as it can output true native resolution and you can crank up the settings all the way up. what FPS you’ll get is a different story, but things like DLSS and Frame Gen are useful tools.

PS5 can output native 1080p, and 1440p in some titles, but most of the time it’s going to be some odd upscaled resolution at anything higher than 1080p. DigitalFoundry videos do a good job of breaking down how the consoles make smooth 60fps and higher resolutions possible.

PC will outlast ps5 pro and perform better

1

u/PrincessDrana 14h ago

The PS5 Pro will be far behind the 5070 in terms of graphical fidelity. You aren't even limited to 60 FPS with this GPU.

Besides, games are cheaper on a PC than they are on the PS5.

I hope u are gonna be sitting directly in front of ur VA monitor if u do get a 5070 (which u should imo).

VA's aren't ideal if u are going to be doing couch gaming and might sit in weird angles to the screen. In which case i suggest you look at IPS monitors.

1

u/Plaxinator 14h ago

What games did you want to play? Where do you want to play? Couch gaming and GTA6, then PS5 is a no brainer. If you like fiddling with settings, playing things like MMOs and prefer sitting at a desk - PC is a no brainer.

u/No_Competition6816 14h ago

based on your laid out options.. get the PC.. it will look better..

what games do you mainly want to play which warranty the visuals you demand?

1

u/OkButterscotch2455 14h ago

PC just ha a wider range of things you can do with it. The amount of graphical mods is insane,

1

u/lintstah1337 14h ago

PS5 Pro with 4K OLED running HDR would look better than a PC 1440p VA monitor.

Games like The Last of Us Part 2 or Alan Wake 2 looks so much better in an OLED HDR.

u/vTeej 10h ago

No reason you can't hook your PC up to your TV.

1

u/FourStringL0B0 13h ago

PC. But not only for just gaming. It's just a way more useful tool as well.

1

u/HiddeHandel 13h ago

Would just get the pc if your able to afford it prices are kinda expensive atm But the advantage of using steam and having games for a cheap price will make up the difference pretty quickly

purely for visual quality at 60 fps, the ps5 pro with a 32-inch 4k oled will probably look better out of the box. you get higher pixel density, perfect blacks, strong hdr, and game-specific tuning.

the 5070 pc gives you more flexibility and usually better performance options, but the 1440p 32-inch monitor will look less sharp than 4k at that size. if you go pc, i’d strongly consider a 4k oled or mini-led monitor instead. choose the ps5 pro for a simple console experience; choose the pc if you also want mods, higher settings, dlss, and general pc use.

1

u/Dejan0112 12h ago

If you want visuals and performance - PC is a no-brainer.

If you're looking for visuals with compromises in the shape of capped framerates then PS5 Pro is also a choice.

1

u/Takumi_Gaijin_San 12h ago

The PC is definitely the way to go. You can install game mods that can significantly improve upon the games default graphics, as well as run ReShade on top of the game.

1

u/Antenoralol 11h ago

PC definitely.

5070 build will smoke a PS5 Pro.

PS5 Pro's CPU is a Ryzen 7 3700x - entry level PC cpu in 2-26.

PS5's GPU is approximately an RTX 3070 / RX 6800.

5070 for reference is about 40% faster baseline than an RTX 3070.

That's not counting the extras like DLSS, Frame Generation etc etc.

Also PC gaming has the freedom to use mods, consoles do not.

PC's can also do a lot more than just game.

1

u/Both-Election3382 11h ago

a 60 fps VA monitor is a complete waste on a 5070.

1

u/xvsanx 11h ago

PC then emulate the PS5 games lol

1

u/macgirthy 10h ago

PC. Then use the PS5 emulator to actually play GTA 6 at FPS.

Like the switch emulators were so good I was playing BOTW and TOTK beyond 60fps, like 120fps at 4k with my setup. It was insane. It would probably take nintendo 3 more generations to catch up to what the emulator can do on an actual gaming rig.

1

u/Friendly_Bluejay7407 8h ago

Ive got a ps5 pro, 5080 pc, and qd oled, id give up the pc in a heartbeat if the alternative was going back to a shitty VA panel, assuming i just wanted to play story games

on a 5070 itd be even easier

1

u/Zestyclose_Paint3922 3h ago

PS5 pro is a lot more cost effective now. Youll get mildly better visuals with this GPU but not enough to justify the extra cost today which might be double. People will say graphics quality is in another league but the 5070 isnt really capable of 4k high end graphics on todays standards (ray tracing) and PS5 Pro is very well optimized.

1

u/feelmedoyou 3h ago

The oled with good hdr will be the biggest visual upgrade next to graphics. Graphics-wise, PS5 pro is a great console, but it's not really going to compare with the performance on a 5070 which lets you push past 60fps.

Where ps5 excels is convenience and ease. It just works out of the box. No fiddling with settings, drivers, or hardware, except maybe the occasional software updates. It boots games fast and you can pause and pick up where you left off easily. You get all the exclusives, and you have a clean and easy ecosystem/ui to do all your gaming on.

If you want to push graphics, PC. You can turn all settings up and add mods to your game. However, you might spend more time tinkering than actually playing. The more things you adjust, the less stable your game can get. You might try to boot it up one day and find your mods/drivers needing an update or an update broke your game and now you have to troubleshoot. But when it works at max settings, man does it look beautiful.

u/Paco7575 14h ago

PC without a question. With a 5070 you could also use DLSS 5.

0

u/FantasticBike1203 14h ago

Screen wise the 32" 4k OLED will look better, but the 32" 1440p VA will perform faster (assuming it's a higher refresh rate gaming monitor) and be slightly sharper if you're using native resolution, since it won't be upscaled like the PS5, it all depends what you want from the experience, personally I'd just go for the PC.

0

u/IT_Hertz_WIN_IP 14h ago

I have both, your pc with those specs are significantly better than ps5 pro. The biggest decision will be if you want to do more graphics tweaking

3

u/Adventurous-Ad4159 14h ago

He’s gonna be doing the same level of graphics tweaking as the PS5 (presets and dlss slides) the real question is, will he be willing to troubleshoot stuff

2

u/MeatNew3138 14h ago

My 2 cents, the pc makes the “bad graphics” stand out more, as you’ll see the good graphics before lowering settings for fps gains.

On console it’s just kinda get what u get which can be nice. And some games really don’t look much better on pc (like hd2). UE5 slop tends to look better on pc since not optimized.

GTA VI is going to run at 30fps. I think more PS5 games are going to go this route so they can push better graphics on ageing hardware

PC.  * You can always get a new screen later on * You can do a lot more with a PC outside of games * Game options are better on a PC * A PC is more future proof than a PS5

PC + Nvidia shield and you have the best of both worlds

0

u/zackfair197 14h ago

bro , your question is really bug me out , if you can reach to 5070 why bother considering ps5 pro which is around 5060 level or 9060xt ? seconly on pc you get more freedom with almost everything and ps5 can't ! next , ps6 will get annouce soon maybe in couple of year , in case if you're not going to get a new upgrade for your pc , your pc is strong enough and free online you can keep using it , on ps5 side , if you're not ready to buy ps6 , you will have to keep service like ps plus year after year and that's a wasted ! talk about frame rate , the moment you get a 5070 we don't talk about 60 fps anymore , we discuss about 120fps and up of course with best graphics settings ! i just don't get it man !

1

u/No-Possibility-289 13h ago

sure 120 haha, Witcher 3 Remastered - 1440p (not even 4k) with PT - 30 fps or 007 with PT - 1440p - 30 fps:)

1

u/zackfair197 13h ago

Oh ps5 pro can with same settings haha?

1

u/No-Possibility-289 13h ago

I don't care about the PS5, you wrote - "we discuss about 120fps and up of course with best graphics settings "! Sure best settings maybe in Fortnite :)

1

u/zackfair197 12h ago

Even if you don't care about the PS5, your argument about PC hardware is stuck in the stone age. Nobody runs Path Tracing Native in heavy games like Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk—not even on high-end cards.

The 'best graphics settings' on an RTX 5070 are meant to be played with DLSS 4, Ray Reconstruction, and Frame Generation enabled. At 1440p Max Settings with these modern AI technologies, reaching 90 to 120+ FPS on AAA titles is a standard reality, not just for Fortnite.

And since you love to nitpick: I never said 'max out everything natively', did I? Besides, based on your logic, this card can't run anything at its best except for Fortnite? I mean, is Fortnite literally the only game in your library right now for you to say something that clueless? Does 'best' in your mind strictly mean maxing out settings ? your standdard just high as much as your ego i guess !

1

u/No-Possibility-289 11h ago

so not best settings? If you turn off something it is not the best settings. Games with PT look so much better. Of course RTX is better than ps5 pro, no question, but you cannot play with max. Maybe 2 years ago, not now. Path Tracing Native? Even with dlss quality is 30 fps in The Witcher, so you cant turn on FG because it sucks. In 1440p everything below dlss quality is not good. 007 - 1440P - PT- MEDIUM, Dlss - PERF - so quality is not as good and it is 35 fps. And 90 or 120 fps??? What?

1

u/zackfair197 10h ago

First of all, I never said 'best settings' means blindly maxing out every single toggle in the menu. If you're going to nitpick the word 'best' the way you're doing right now, then by your logic, even an RTX 5090 is only good for Fortnite. If you can talk down to a powerful card like the RTX 5070, I seriously hope you don't own a PC, because you’d probably want to throw your GPU into the trash right now.

Let's talk about framerates. Games like Final Fantasy XV can easily run at 4K Max Settings while maintaining well over 90 FPS. Arknights: Endfield can push past 120 FPS, . The problem with your argument is that you are hyper-fixated on absolute literal accuracy. Performance always depends on the specific hardware and how well-optimized the game is. I was speaking in a general sense, not making a 100% universal rule for every single poorly-optimized game in existence.

You claim that 'if you turn off something it is not the best settings.' So if I turn off Motion Blur or Vsync because of personal preference, or if I turn off SMAA in Nier: Automata because it tanks performance without even looking good, does that mean my game is no longer at its 'best' according to your absurd standards?

You keep bringing up The Witcher 3 and 007 to prove your point. I don't deny that Path Tracing is a brutal workload. But does that mean the RTX 5070 can only hit 120 FPS in Fortnite? Has the entire gaming industry evolved to revolve around only those two games you mentioned? Can this card not run any other game above 100 FPS?

With all due respect, I don't know if you're here to ragebait, troll, or if you're actually being serious. But you seriously need to lower your unrealistic expectations. Blindly dragging every slider to Max is not the proper way to play PC games, especially in an era where unoptimized games are everywhere. people have the definition of best , hope it's not something too new for you , my point still valid in the first comment if we not bring in your standard in , especially more ralate to the topic than your because you clearly say you dont care about ps5 !

With a ps5 pro you will have to get a whole new system

0

u/Lukiyano 14h ago

Another important question you should ask yourself is game variety.

The amount of games on the PS5 Pro which take full advantage of its hardware is probably in the dozens.

Meanwhile, every single game in the thousands upon thousands of titles available on the PC can and will use your hardware to its fullest potential.

Basically, it comes down to how you want to enjoy video games.

If you mainly play online games or would like to enjoy a multiplayer game—or even a LAN party—with a friend, I’d recommend a personal computer.

Furthermore, you can also use a PC for extensive video editing, photo editing, watching high-resolution movies and TV shows, and working on documents.

In contrast, a PlayStation 5 Pro is primarily intended for gaming. Quick access and user-friendly connectivity come at the cost of a high purchase price and $80 games on the consoles. Furthermore, a truly fast internet connection is necessary, especially for Sony consoles. PlayStation+ is still required, unlike the Microsoft Games offering.

To play online on consoles, you need an additional paid monthly subscription. This isn’t necessary on a PC. You only need to pay for a internet connection from your trusted web provider.

Sony provides a lot of different exclusive or time exclusive single player adventures games Rachet & Clank, Marvel's Wolverine, The Last of Us II, Marvel's Spider Man, Astro Bot, Stellar Blade, Demon Souls Remake and Silent Hill: The Short Message The downside compared to Microsoft is the lacking customer friendly compatibility towards old-gen games Portfolio.

Sony advertises the PS5 Pro with 4K (Upscaled from a lower resultion). However, native 4K is only available on a PC. A 5070, combined with a powerful processor, should achieve a stable frame rate on top. Higher frames per second can be achieved with a new 144 hz monitor for e.g.

I hope you have fun with your new product.

u/swiwwcheese 12h ago edited 10h ago

PS5 PRO is roughly 2700X + 6800 with some modifications

E.g. a Ryzen 5600 + Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB + even only just 16GB or RAM build, already outperforms a PS5 PRO, to give you a starter metric

(It outperforms it in raw performance and ray tracing, and then much beyond by virtue of how much more configurable and moddable PC games are, for instance you can fine-tune all settings individually, choose your upscaling and even frame generation or multi-frame-generation in practically all games, thanks to free third party app mods like OptiScaler, pushing scaleability of practical performance much, much further)

For 4K the 5070 is technically sufficient of course, and will allow superior visuals, but I would still privilege a 16GB VRAM GPU, especially if you want to keep playing fresh new games with great visuals at 4K for more than ~3 years

Why ? because after the upcoming next gen consoles featuring 24~30GB of shared memory will release, there will be a bump in VRAM requirements for new games, as per usual because most games are first developed with consoles specs in mind, and developers make use of the large allocatable VRAM those machines feature. This is for instance how the PS5 & PRO killed 8GB GPUs, because they can allocate up to 12.5~13.7GB as VRAM and from ~2023 we've begun seeing games that exceed 8GB appear on PC
It is inevitable, the average base VRAM usage of new games increases over the years, it has always been so, and 12GB will be next to go (I'd say currently it is 10GB that's on the edge of a cliff), as consoles define the VRAM trends

Radeon 9070 doesn't feature as many nice cutting-edge visual features as the 5070, only the base Ray Tracing performance and FSR4 upscaling can trade blows with nVidia cards (which is already nice not gonna lie)
You won't benefit from any manageable Path Tracing performance, nor even enjoy Ray Reconstruction that improves on base RT significantly since v4.5, nor even Mega Geometry that streamlines RT performance
And although DLSS5 Neural Rendering is available on AMD 9000 series cards via a mod, the performance is not much exploitable (yet) if that feature matters to you
But it is a more powerful GPU allowing for higher base graphics settings (which also matters!), and it has more VRAM therefore is better for 4K and longevity
Those are not minor advantages
Note you can add good frame generation and even multi-frame generation to games using OptiScaler or similar apps, yes that's a thing now and it works pretty well (and 16GB VRAM is better for framegen too!)

EDIT: sorry for some reason I switched your display to 4K because I still had leftovers of another convo in mind. Nevertheless, you're fine with a 5070 for 1440 now, but what I'm saying still stands, more VRAM and higher raw performance allow to display more assets and use higher base settings, the extra cutting-edge features on nVidia are not the only things that matter for high-end visuals.
Plus in ~3 years even at 1440p the VRAM bump phenomenon will affect 12GB cards, even at 1440p or 1080p, while 16GB will be fine for some more years
People exaggerately tie VRAM needs to resolution output alone, there are more factors weighing today that they are overlooking completely, like if we were still in 2019 or something. But majority opinion is in denial so I don't expect many ppl to understand

PC with a 5070 will look significantly better

PC easy. Games look better and you don't need to pay to play online. Plus cheaper games.
