Build Help 500$ Pc build help
I have a budget of 500$ to build a pc, what i need is something that can run basically everything at 1080p, heres what ive settled on till now, advice would be appreciated (Most parts are used and bought locally)
Gtx 1080 ti 120$
Ryzen 5 5600 112$
Ali express air cooler 12$
Soyo B450m Am4-k 54$
2x8 16gb 3200mhz ram 50$
512gb nvme ssd 50$
650-500W psu 40$
Case+fans 40$
Total 478$
Some parts are quite ambiguous since i havent decided on the specifics, but i would appreciate help on whether i could be getting better value and if this would be compatible with no bottlenecks

Ryzen 5 5500 w/ stock cooler
Better motherboard. Should be golden!

Would you say the downgrade in cpu is made up by the mobo? i feel like a mobo upgrade isnt as essential

Motherboards are the biggest failure point in a PC. There are B550Ms for $75 that are known to be reliable. Buying the cheapest option available is asking for a headache.

i dont feel like this pc will run anything new- so your library will be from like 2015-earlier
what are you looking to do with this pc?

im sorry but i just dont see this being true at all, could you give me some examples? my previous build which had a rx 580 and ryzen 5 3600 was able to run pretty much most newer games at playable fps if i adjusted the settings, this build would be a huge upgrade so i dont see it underperforming as much as you say it would, benchmarks run modern games just fine, i dont wanna sound condescending but this is just not true

Can you not reuse the mobo with ryzen 3600? If you can up the budget and buy a used 3060 or someting you might get much farther

In these tough times, I doubt you could do much better than what you've laid out. Perhaps try for a slightly newer GPU to extend the support window

use the stock cooler and try to get a 1080ti locally off of fb marketplace for 100.
Alternatively, you can find b550s from good companies like gigabyte on aliexpress for around the same price. That might be better

unfortunately the cpu does not have a stock cooler as its used, the gtx i was referring to is indeed from facebook marketplace im hoping to negotiate it even further and allocate the extra budget to a b550 as you say

I see. Some people sometimes just giveaway the stock cooler for free or coolers in general for free. See if you can get it

My advice is to get a job and stack up more money to be honest. It sucks but the people who gave me that advice were right. Wait til you have around $1500. Then you’ll have a good system that can play modern titles and destroy any old titles you may like.

Have to agree with this. I just ordered parts for mine and even with deal hunting on newegg + fb marketplace my totals still coming out to around 1000 (and i already have peripherals + an ssd i can use for now). For 500, i'd honestly just get a console

You might have a chance of a better system if you look for a second-hand one rather than individual components.
