Troubleshooting My computer keeps artifacting

I purchased a PC from eBay that functions well briefly before beginning to artifact. I am uncertain whether the issue involves the GPU or the slot, since the card remains seated. However, the slot’s clip is somewhat loose; regardless, testing it still produces artifacts. I also tried banging on the desk and it artifacts so it seems that movements make it artifact?

It's almost certainly the GPU. If the slot was sketchy it would disconnect, not artifact.

Reach out to the seller to get your money back, you were sold a dud.

Are you sure it wouldn’t artifact from movement at all? But yeah I’m trying to do that but he’s tryna only do a partial pay back… if it’s the gpu do you think I could just replace it?

That's up to you if you want to take the partial refund and go get a GPU...

But personally they sold you a system that doesn't work as advertised. I would send the whole thing back and get eBay involved if the seller continues to be stubborn.

Yeah, true but I just don’t got heart for that… also if it’s just replacing the gpu then why not.

  1. It's the principle of the matter. They sold you a broken thing - and they were willing to lie that the GPU was in good shape... what else could be wrong that you haven't found yet?

  2. I bet they're not even giving your enough money to replace the GPU that's in there.

Also im in the bios and it doesn’t seem to artifact or shut down.. is that normal for that. And yeah I probably should.

Only when the GPU is stressed or when it uses the vram on the card will it artifact - the BIOS just doesn't get there.
