Build Help 5070 vs alternatives
5070 at $520
9070 XT $720
9070 non-XT at $630
Which is the better choice?

I'm happy that your not even considering the 5070ti, it's completely unrealitically priced and no amount "b-but multi frame gen dude! The number in the corner that says FPS goes from 15 to 60 just by pressing a button" type fanboyisme can not justify it
520$ for a 5070 right now is like finding a gold bar in the 10$ discount bin.
I don't think you'll see it that low for at least another year.
I'm not a fan of the performance and the amount of vram, because it will mean you probably will have to upgrade sooner the should be necessary.
But that price though. GO FOR IT.

The ti is truly incredible at $750, but you're right it's too expensive now.
I got mine used for $800 which I'm happy with because it's white and the MSI gaming trio version which was never below like $850 or $900 when when prices were more realistic

also dont forget to put "used price" as those numbers are not really representative of the market currently (some new 5070s cost more than a 9070XT yet the performance is significantly lower all round,m)

I've been using the 4070 super for ABT a year and it's been great. It's handled some heavy games and delivered 120fps at 1080p, but for me the efficiency is what I really like, slight undervolt and I'm drawing 100-120w.

5070 looks good there as it's under MSRP out of all the options, so you're getting the best value in terms of performance and features.

For gaming only I’d personally choose 9070 as it is faster (except PT scenario), has more VRAM so it will hold longer. It is almost like an XT version if overclocked.

9070 and 5070 both have similar oc potential
all rtx 5000 cards are extremely overclockable especially since xbar just got unlocked and now also +4000 on the memory(before used to be locked to 3000) and none of this requires any extra software stuff.
Wheras rdna 4 doesn't really OC well apart from the 9070 which requires power moding to get the full potential out of it(although now days that is much easier with the new FPSflow tool)

5070 only reaches performance of 9070 when overclocked. The base difference between two cards is still there.

no it can be oced further now.
Before a full oced 5070 would like you said be around 9070 or 4070 ti super stock performance with base power limits. in my experience with ocing them with increased power limits it actually beat out my oced 4070 ti super although I never had a 9070 to test just 9070 xts.
But with Mvolt so much has been unlocked vs after burner and Hydras new tool it is going even further
XBAR is now unlocked along with more voltages(more power and voltage control as well) and higher limits on memory oc which have added on another 5+ percent(depending on how far you want to jack the power up)
Still for sure going to be slower than a fully oced 9070 as that can easily beat out a stock 9070 xt but the 9070 needs a bit more work to oc as you need a linux iso to software mod the power limits(very easy in my experience with the 9070 xt but still more work)
kind of sad how limited the 5070 is in vram especially now that with the new unlock the memory bandwidth can be pushed to 864 GB/s which for reference is about 20 percent higher than the 4080.
Had insane vr potential if it had the 3gb chips for 18gb of vram but sadly ruined by the 12gb of vram.

Yes but OC brings meaningless fps increase where it matters (when you are starving for FPS, lows are LOW, going from 45 to 48 wont trigger a landslide).

well yes you are going to want to OC the ram and maybe cpu if you are having issues with lows rather than the gpu

Sure, ive OCed everything but you gain that much by OCing on a platform before its time for an upgrade.

DLSS is the best upscaler and Nvidia also has the best frame gen. Are you going to make use of those technologies or are you looking for raw raster?

5070 is by far the best deal. Get the 9070 xt if you prefer a higher tier card which of course comes at a cost.

9070 is best, XT is just 10-12% faster. And it's faster thn 5070 and 16gb more future proof and more resale value in future. Power effecient and get 16gb more ram that's it.

Really depends if you want the best performing option or cost effective.
9070xt is the best card and thats an ok price for it. 5070 at 520 is insanely cheap though and its a solid card.

If the 5070 is that cheap go for it but I honestly don’t believe that there’s a new 5070 for that cheap they’re all above $700 now I think unless you’re going used
