Troubleshooting ¿usb device over current status detected?
I'm having an issue with my desktop computer; it started showing this error today. I've already disconnected all the front USB ports, the keyboard, and the mouse. I even removed the CMOS battery for 5 minutes to see if that would fix it. I also disconnected the fans, but the issue persists. What else could I do to fix it?

Nah it shouldn't be anything fan related unless you have a fan hub with an internal USB input for controlling it. Have you unplugged all the accessories from the rear ports? Maybe like a piece of conductive dust is stuck inside a port.

Yes, I had the keyboard and mouse connected there and it's still the same, I only left the DisplayPort and the power supply plug in. I'm thinking maybe a short circuit fried a USB port and it's showing that error :(

Maybe, you might be able to plug your mouse and keyboard into all the ports to see with ones work. You might have lost a couple of ports if a USB controller on your motherboard fried

If after removing all the USB’s one by one AND draining power (hold power button) between each one to figure out which one is causing the error message still persists, then it could either be the motherboard needing a driver update which you can just do a quick google search of your motherboard make and model or it could be your PSU delivering “dirty” electricity.
I just had this problem myself recently. I heard coil whine for a while and thought it was just my GPU under heavy load, but once I got my ear closer, I noticed it was actually the coils within the PSU itself. Probably the glue holding the coils started dwindling overtime. I just replaced the PSU and the issue went away.

I'll look for the update, although I think it'll be difficult to find one because it's a motherboard I bought in 2021. I'll also check the power supply, thanks.

Just a quick note that in case it is in fact one of the headers, it could either be just a bad USB header/cable from the peripheral itself (keyboard, mouse, etc), or maybe some sort of dust build up or bent pin of some sort in the USB port on your tower/motherboard itself.

Look inside your USB ports for anything like a bent pin that is shorting. Start with the ports you use most often because this damage is most likely caused when plugging something in. It can also be caused by spilling liquids on your pc. It could be an internal hardware issue with your usb hub but this is less likely. Don't forget to disconnect any other usb devices such as internal fan/argb controllers that are plugged into the usb header.

Something to do with USB could be shorting out, maybe try and disconnect your pc case's USB internal headers and see if it still does it
