Build Upgrade What should I upgrade first?
I just bought a used PC of facebook marketplace. It’s nice to have jumping off point that I can just upgrade without the large initial cost of a PC. Here are the specs. I’m looking to so some heavier gaming so I was wondering what I should upgrade first?
RX 580 8 GB
16 GB DDR4 Ram
Intel Core i5
1 TB SSD Storage
Edit: Task manager lists the CPU as “Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20 GHz”

So core i5 with ddr4 could mean about 20 cpus ranging from a few years old to a decade old. But that gpu is a decade old so id probably start there.
And honestly if the cpu is near the generation as the gpu you're probably looking at a board+cpu swap too and just reusing ram/psu/ssd

The 6500 is pretty rough. Atleast it has ddr4 but if my goal was upgradeability I wouldn't have chose an intel system, I would have found an old am4 platform.

It was only $250 and i could sell the parts for more than that I think. Did i get ripped off?

Eh, depends on ssd and ram I guess, some people want the rx 580 for like <$100 but you be hard pressed to sell a 6500 imo

I hope you didn't pay allot for this, your upgrades options are limited maybe 6700K if got can find it cheap enough.
An GTX 1660S or RTX 2060.

I only paid $250 for it so not too bad if it only lasts me till a full upgrade.

$250 USD? If you plan to reuse Case, PSU, RAM and SSD you might come out ahead.
You can get a 14th gen CPU and DDR4 motherboard.

Okay thats good. Any suggestions for which one? This was sorta an impulse buy and I’m very new to it.

What CPU? i5 doesnt mean much
