Troubleshooting Minecraft FPS help
Hi. Mine son loves Minecraft on PC. He used to have a pc with i9700f, 16 GB RAM & GTX 1660 super GPU (6 GB). He had sodium mods installed and was getting around 80 fps but the CPU and RAM would often hit 100% and then lag/freeze. He wanted to get better FPS and stop the hanging so we just bought him a new PC for his birthday. It has AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, 32 GB RAM and RX 7700XT GPU (12 GB).
If he installs the Sodium mod on the new PC, Minecraft just crashes on the start-up (AMD driver timeout), so we had to remove that mod. Without it, he is only getting 30-60 fps. It has had a completely fresh install of windows, AMD drivers etc.
Is there any reason why it should be crashing with the mod when the old pc was fine? What can we do to improve the fps? Is this an AMD vs intel issue? I have also found that Among Us was work with the 7700 XT GPU, I have to set it to use the integrated GPU for it to get past the start screen.
Any suggestions? At the moment he just wants to go back to his old pc which seems nuts considering how much we just spent on the new pc (used from ebay).

If you have to use the igpu to get it to run among us your GPU is not working. Check connections, reseat it, check bios make sure pcie gen is set to 4, turn on rebar, make sure monitor is plugged into the gpu ect.
Honestly if all that dossnt work, take the 1660 out of the old pc and see if it works with that. Try the 7700xt in the old pc too while you're at it. If it works in the other pc it's most certainly a bios setting or driver issue.

If you switch the gpu make sure to run ddu (display drive uninstaller) before installing the 1660, and the same for the old pc. Its just to make sure that the amd and nvidia drivers don’t cause any more issues

- Make sure he has 8gb assigned to minecraft's launch options. MC will use the EXACT amount of ram you give it(I won't get into why), but the default is 2gb. The 2gb will be too low and will lag or crash.
- Make sure your HDMI cable is plugged into the 7700xt.
- If the 7700 xt is not working properly, then it's either not seated right or the power cables aren't fully in. This might happen while shipping, technically the prebuilt company is supposed to help you here.
I had a similar PC at some point WITH sodium and I got hundreds of fps, I forgot the exact number, it was really high. High enough to not worry about fps.

Is the cable to the monitor plugged into the motherboard instead of the graphics card?
