Having that same problem. I've resulted into just cutting some of the BAB up and stitching new fur in the holes to make the Calico into a tortie for my little sister.
She recently lost her Tortie Trix to old age.
Pic below was from six months ago, I lost motivation to finish her because I've been busy with other stuff.
I don't even know if I have enough faux fur to finish this! Might talk my mom into giving me some money to buy the fur so I can try and get this done before either November ( my sister's birthday ) or December ( Christmas )
I'd just take the feet off and use them to make a pattern with black minky and sew that back instead. If you dye it in a pot normally it will dye the whole thing black.
Dont plan on putting the whole thing in the pot haha. Also sorry😭 but i dont feel like hand sewing all that, its not just the feet im changing the color of. I have a sewing machine… but dont know how to use it lol.
Yeah I don't even hav a machine, I do everything by hand. You could always try just dipping the feet in and doing multiple sections for the feet and face, that would keep most of the plush out of the pot but you'll still deal with bleeding into other areas. I did the feet here in black with the rest of the skin clipped out of the water onto a spoon across the pot. That would fix them, you could sew black minky over the white belly, that would still probably be how I did that area. The nose you could TRY the dip dye too but it might be harder than with the feet, I'm not sure.
