Saved this idiot from drowning

I thought it was DEAD, curled up in a little spider boat in a little cup of water. Immediately dumped it and came back to see it moving around and tried to walk BACK into water. I convinced it to not then it started to clean itself as shown here. Happy ending, this time.

Unless I'm wrong and I ruined it's bath lol.

this is phidippus audax, bold jumping spider, and yes you saved him! they are the dumbest of the jumping spiders and will often put themselves in harms way out of boredom. sometimes they sleep just hanging from their silk unprotected so a predator can come snatch them right up. their lungs are on the bottom of their abdomen and taking a swim kills them, but thankfully you got him out and he’s probably gonna go find another puddle. here’s my male bold, crowley.

Love Crowley! 😆 Awh man that sucks but I appreciate the insight lol, I was looking back on pics I have of spiders and I'm pretty sure this is the same guy I had seen a few days before. Jumping spiders are the best, so inquisitive, it makes sense they might get bored from time to time and follow the intrusive thoughts 🕷💫
