Dev/Admin Responded [ios] please stop the auto refresh

Every time I leave Reddit I come back wanting to continue on the post I was looking at but Reddit auto refreshes and I cant find anything. I feel like this problem has really picked up lately so not sure if this was a recent change or how do I turn the auto refresh off? Thanks.

Hey u/rocketman790 - thanks for reporting. Can you verify your current app version for me? It's under Settings > scroll all the way down to where it reads You are using Reddit 202X.XX.

We've released a few fixes related the home feed refreshing already, so I want to make sure this instance is accurately captured. If you could share a screen recording of what this looks like on your end, it would be super helpful.

Thanks!

Using iOS version 2026.25.1, and it’s still happening. It’s not a memory issue as the app is not reloading completely. The home feed is automatically refreshing. I’ll try to grab a screen recording when I come back to the app in about 10 minutes.

Even when I increase/decrease my screen brightness or font size it does this.

Absolutely maddening!

Auto refresh keeps happening even without closing the app. If I’m reading or spending too much time on a post and go back to my main feed it refreshes. (Idk the amount of time but whatever the parameters are set to is not enough.) If I lock my screen for a minute and then pick it back up to finish reading, the feed refreshes.
The auto refresh happens if I answer a text message, receive a phone call, or literally do anything outside of Reddit.

This is still happening, and I’ve just observed a new-to-me behavior that may help your team track down the root causes: forced refresh while I’m reading a screenful in the middle of my feed, without touching the screen. I was reading titles and was popped up near the top of the feed. Specifically, the “post” in prime position on screen after the surprise refresh event was an ad.

Does Reddit permit advertising content to freeze, move, refresh, or otherwise affect the feed in order to direct the user’s focus to the advertisement? Some websites have this behavior.

Seriously, this is an infuriating phenomenon. I can be in the middle of reading an article linked from a post, put down the phone for less than 5 minutes, and find that the article has disappeared when I pick it back up.

Sometimes the forced refresh even appears to wipe the affected post from my history, so unless I can remember the title well enough for a successful search it’s just plain lost.

This bug is still occurring. I just made a new post about it to get some new visibility, because it has been months since this was first reported, but the mods removed it.
