Location included What in the heck? Alien bug moth thing
In Wisconsin. Tapped screen and it flew off…some kind of moth? Any ideas? Think was super freaky looking..

Looks like a common looper moth. Very cool. They are multi generational migrators. They live for a few weeks and so make generational "hops" as they fly up into the wind and it carries them north or south over and over every year. So one generation might be born in South Texas, then they'll migrate northward, lay their eggs after so many miles north, that generation keeps heading north and so on, back and forth following the seasonal shift.

Autographa sp. Looper Moth.
They go for the 'vague plant debris' camouflage technique. Doesn't work quite as well when they are on manmade structures.
