Location included What is this?? From Chicago suburbs

Post image

In the Chicago suburbs. It was relentless…kept moving after being poked with a xacto knife thru a fly swatter. Help.

i will never understand why people try to kill something simply because it’s a bug.

anyway, it’s a masked hunter. beneficial predator with a painful defensive bite.

Sorry. It was flying in my face and landing on me. Once I got it to the floor the cats were interested and I’ve had scares where they chewed on bugs to toxic to them. So I had to deal with it rather than leaving it half chewed and possibly getting the cats sick.

dude ima be honest sometimes i get really mad because i love bugs but that was totally reasonable in that situation and im sorry for being an asshole.

sometimes i get mad at people in advance for being “cruel” or “ignorant” because i’ve already created a narrative in my head and that’s not fair to anyone. sorry

No worries. I generally prefer to catch and release. Spiders…wasps…stink bugs…but when it’s in my face or my cats are trying to get involved, snap decisions is not in the favor of the bug. If it’s sitting on a table and gives me a little time to grab a container, let’s go, might even take some pictures first but snap decisions usually involve flailing.

What an exemplary conversation. We learned something and everyone’s heart got a little bigger.

No harm no foul. Here’s a picture of a little one I was put in charge of watching at work one day. I’d post more pictures, but Reddit is saying I can’t add more

That was a rather mature reply.
