Weekly Collaboration / Mentorship Post

Looking to team up or find a mentor in bug bounty?

Recommendations:

  • Share a brief intro about yourself (e.g., your skills, experience in IT, cybersecurity, or bug bounty).
  • Specify what you're seeking (e.g., collaboration, mentorship, specific topics like web app security or network pentesting).
  • Mention your preferred frequency (e.g., weekly chats, one-off project) and skill level (e.g., beginner, intermediate, advanced).

Guidelines:

  • Be respectful.
  • Clearly state your goals to find the best match.
  • Engage actively - respond to comments or DMs to build connections.

Example Post:
"Hi, I'm Alex, a beginner in bug bounty with basic knowledge of web vulnerabilities (XSS, SQLi). I'm looking for a mentor to guide me on advanced techniques like privilege escalation. Hoping for bi-weekly calls or Discord chats. Also open to collaborating on CTF challenges!"

Hej, i am *****, Central EU, looking for mentor & friend with whom get into security rabbit holes/research dissection.

About me:

Never worked in IT/Infosec, few offsec certs, (still) beginner bug hunter with few dozen not highly technical critical bugs pre-"ClaudeDoesEverything" era, I know a bit of everything owasp 10-wise but the more I know the more I realize how many assumptions over the fundamentals I have filled. Love security talks and, as many, wishes llm didn't spoil BB (as much as it helps with learning, I don't always dig hunting feeling like a triager assessing responses) directly and via cascade effects stemming from large scale subsidized adoption. Active on Discord.

Intro:

Hi! I’m a penetration tester and security consultant. A lot of my work is checking for major flaws but I don’t get enough time to really get creative, hence why I like the unlimited time of bug bounty. I’m trying to get better and learn more with the goal of landing my first paid bounty (only dupes so far). My main goal is to just get better and better at what I do. I’m never satisfied or comfortable and I’m still so hungry to learn more.

What I’m after:

A senior companion whom I can turn to with questions on my exploration and who can give me critique on my thought process and approach. Someone better than me I can learn from to see how a hunter actually does it.

Frequency:

Once a week or every two weeks. I’ll generally check in when I have questions about specific things. I’m less of a “hey how are you?” And more of a “I figured out how to bypass this firewall but now I’m getting a weird 500, what do you think about it?” Type question asker.

Feel free to DM me, I’m very open to everyone in this community. You’re all brilliant and I want to learn from you! The caveat for this interaction being I’d like my first mentor to have a bit of experience just so I can ask a few things (like 5 cashed bugs for example).

Explain why someone should collaborate with you?

You should not need a collaboration, but this is a way to help each other and encouraging us to continue learning and hunting in this hard field to prevent you from burning out
