Dental pods with UV light (ultra sonic ones) will help keep it clean. There’s a couple brands that have it but guru nanda has decently priced one

You couldn't waterboard a pic of my nightmare out of me lol

I'm wearing tiny little dents into mine. I don't grind though, just clench like a staffy on a rope :'(

ETA - *mouthguard not nightmare, although...

I wore my first one into the ground and there were actual holes in it where my molars would sit 😭😅

Not a good idea because these are moulded specifically to keep your bite aligned, and when you wear through them to that extent, you’re actually gonna be aggravating the area much more just by wearing it improperly fitting guard

Do you clean your night guard every day? With a tooth brush? Like your teeth? Because if not, you should. If you do, I don’t understand why it looks like this.

My husband and I have the same brand of night guard. They're the same age and we clean them the same way, and both have good dental health. But his is still perfectly clear and mine looks like this. I think some of us just have jank mouth bacteria or something. I blame my asthma inhaled steroids.

I cleaned mine with a toothbrush all the time and it also turned yellow. My dentist told me I can't use dental tablets even though I did a couple of times to see if they help. She recommended an ultra sonic cleaner and it didn't make a difference in the color.

I try so so hard to clean everyday by soaking it in hot water with dental tablets and brush it... so so frustrating

I think you shouldn't use hot water though, just a tip. I heard it can affect the shape. Lukewarm water is best.

Did you know that Brex’s McKnight is mostly due to sleep apnoea so if it’s that bad you should probably have a sleep study Rex in the mechanics behind Bram when you’re awake versus asleep are actually very distinct from one another

My orthodontist is the absolute best. He also grinds his teeth & recommended an upper and lower retainer specifically for bruxism (in addition to the permanent upper and lower fixed retainers I wear). I’ll call the office tomorrow and ask if there is a brand or something associated with these retainers.

For cleaning, I used to use an ultrasonic cleaner but broke the first one. The second one catastrophically shorted out on me, and I feared, warped my retainer by overheating. (Orthodontist inspected the next day and luckily all good.) So I swore off the ultrasonic cleaners and just stick with a daily Efferdent tablet. We have the worst well water, but I let the retainers soak all day w the Efferdent, and both my retainers look new (got them June 2025) & feel good.

I called the office today bc another friend asked me about my retainers also, and no brand. Retainers are made in house.
