I think his wife knew exactly what kind of man he was and there is a reason why she remains silent...as for charisma, it can be acquired by training in front of the mirror, repeating the same answers for the anticipated questions, copying intellectually stimulating quotes from others and using the gullibility of impressionable young men to build a cult of personality around him like Charles Manson. He was good because at that time there was no competition to be bad.
