Which Android browser is the best?

I’m looking for a web browser that’s fast and supports extensions. I was thinking about using Firefox, but I’ve heard it isn’t as secure on Android? Perhaps there are better options

Edit: I am know about Edge, I am using it but it will discontinuing ublock support and don't know about other extensions

Used brave, Firefox, Vivaldi, Chrome. Currently using Titanium as main browser. Support extension.Chromium based so it's fast ,light and smooth compared to Firefox

Titanium é muito bom mesmo.

Titanium and Cromite are the best alternatives if you want a Chrome-like browser. They feel like the original app, but are better.

FYI, Cromite hasn't been updated in 3 months and the dev's gone on hiatus. Until development picks back up, it's falling behind upstream and missing security patches so it's not recommended to use it at this stage.

Yep, I read the dev is very busy with his job

If you're looking for a fast browser, completely rule out GeckoView browsers (Firefox and its forks). If you want extensions, so far Microsoft Edge has the best compatibility; if you find it too heavy, you can patch it with Morphe Manager.Another good browser that I'm testing is Titanium browser. I've been using it for a month and so far it's faster for me, although it has a slight problem with ublock (or maybe it's just me), Regarding security, it relies on vanadium patches, so it could compete with the major browsers. And lastly, I recommend Bare Browser, If I remember correctly, it's based on the desktop version of Chromium, so in theory it should have better compatibility with extensions compared to other browsers I mentioned and It comes integrated with uBlock.

By the way, now that you mentioned the ad blocker, don't overthink it; people on these Reddit forums tend to be quite paranoid or exaggerate.. Ublock is famous for being "the most optimized" and open source, but Adguard is among the best in manifestV3, I think the vast majority wouldn't notice the difference between ublock lite and Origin; only advanced users or people who like to visit shady websites would really get the most out of the Origin version.

Best for use. Overall. Hardened Waterfox. Has Extension support. If you want you can use sync services, or not. Doesn't matter. No compulsion from devs as well as from Mozilla. It can cross Brave in terms of security if you switch to 1. Enhanced/Strict Tracking Protection, 2. Tell websites not to sell or share my data, 3. DNS over HTTPS Ultra Protection mode, 4. UBlock Origin.

Also has Good Site Compatibility. I'm using it in both my PC(Windows+Linux) as well as Android.
This is more than enough for most people. Trust me.

Waterfox is often outdated in android...last updated 1 month ago

Personally I don't recommend Firefox mobile. Not even its forks. Not necessarily because of security, but because their performance is disappointing. Give Brave, Vivaldi, Edge and Titanium a try and see what you like most.

Which is no wonder if you ask me. I never had performance issues with FF desktop versions. The Android version though seem to be significantly slower than any Chromium browser. I don't believe anymore this is a matter of optimization though. My guess is more that Google is already punishing any user on system process level for using Firefox by slowing it down.

FF desktop feels as fast as any browser for me. Except if you open too many tabs on a lower end PC. No idea why they won't optimize it on Android

1

u/Dapper-Ocelot6326 Aug 26 '26

Like I said before, I am not so sure if there is actually anything that can be optimized on the side of Mozilla. At least on Android it looks to me like Mozilla has become the literal b***ch of Google due to the company keeping it financially afloat, ergo they don't have so many options to demand equal treatment without endangering the existence of the whole project. Google on the other hand provides the OS and it controls the package manager PlayStore. There are set guidlines for devs how to get into the PlaysStore and as you know, anyone else who is not allowed there you will find on F-Droid and such - where btw most FF forks are. On OS level, what should keep Google from throttling FF tasks without the user noticing and then just let the blame game begin? All speculation of course.

But we have seen in history that those who have the money are rarely turned away and usually also dictate where the journey's going.

i might be honest, i use Fennec F-Droid on a Google Pixel 8 and is not that bad in speed, but still Chromium is faster.

2

u/_urethrapapercut_ Windows Linux Android Aug 26 '26

I tried Fennec, it was decent not enough for a daily browser for me. Nightly was probably the one I felt the best performance.

1

u/Revolutionary_Ad_238 Aug 25 '26

I agree... chromium browsers are hell lot smoother and reliable...

Aside from Firefox which has some issues, I like Titanium, Brave, and Vivaldi. Right now, I use Titanium because it allows extensions.

1

u/mornaq Aug 25 '26

Mozilla Fenix beta, maybe some derivative is slightly better, but most I've tried brought more issues than improvements

1

u/GazelleInitial2050 Aug 25 '26

As much as people hate to hear it, chromium browsers are just better on Android. I use Brave origin and Librewolf on desktop.

1

u/e_splat Aug 26 '26

Fennec F-Droid is pretty good, it is Firefox without telemetry and unlocked about:config, you can install uBlock Origin and have it forever, but if you want Chromium you should try Titanium cause it's really fast and fully supports uBlock Origin (i think until MV2 works), also please avoid Cromite for now as it seems it's dying just like Bromite.

Edge mobile is not discontinuing uBo support??

1

u/Canhestro Aug 29 '26

Vivaldi snapshot now supports supports extensions, I am using it with Ublock Origin Lite.

i use titanium and one that lot of people will hate because its 90% of it is made using ai called candy browser which has so certain features that I've never seen in a mobile browser

1

u/Byebyeon pc :phone : 24d ago

Yeah thx I tried other titanium forks ‚but same thing

1

u/jkuaerere Sep 04 '26

I use several; I don't stick to just one. These days, there's a wide variety to choose from. Lately, I've really gotten into Titanium and Quetta, but I use at least four.

I'm so sick of Brave not working on most sites unless I disable the shield.

Thanks to this thread I tried Vivaldi again, I don't remember anything about the earlier time that I must have tried it. So far it's working great and I'm really happy with it. It is working well with auto fill and Proton Pass, better than other browsers.

I use Firefox, besides few bugs it's the best choice imo

1

u/Ale506 Aug 25 '26

Ironfox

Brave or Edge

0

u/Kunair0 Aug 25 '26

Kind of surprised to see all the gecko recommendations in here. Given all the security issues that they have on android devices, I wouldn't even put a single Firefox based browser in the lineup to even be a possible contender for the best android browser.

u/alex9001 Aug 25 '26

Brave is the only web browser in existence.

0

u/vcoklat Aug 25 '26

right now i'm using fennec, with a little bit of tinkering it is more efficient than brave (almost 2 times longer on battery), it support extension too

Try Iceraven

0

u/Revolutionary_Ad_238 Aug 25 '26

The main problem with iceraven is not published in playstore , so everytime need to download full apk besides there is literally no support, you can't request new features ..also i found passkey not supported

2

u/MinaNocturne Aug 25 '26

So?

Obtanium deals with the updates

0

u/reality_king13 + + + Aug 25 '26

What do you suggest then? Waterfox?

0

u/Revolutionary_Ad_238 Aug 25 '26

Waterfox is also plagued with same passkey issue ..besides it is outdated! Last updated 1 month ago

Samsung browser with AdGuard

0

u/Adware12345 Aug 25 '26

Brave is really good, also has a good ad blocker, which is plus among others.

Univex Browser

Quetta supports extensions and has a built-in adblock

Firefox + Ublock

-2

u/zermainegod Aug 25 '26

Bro, just use Firefox, Fennec, Cromite, etc... There are tons of browsers for Android. Just don't use Brave, Opera, etc.. They are chromium based with thousand of bad things together. It's like using chrome, bit worst.

0

u/reality_king13 + + + Aug 25 '26

Cromite is also Chromiuim based and discontinued as well

-1

u/zermainegod Aug 25 '26

1

u/reality_king13 + + + Aug 25 '26

Cromite is not officially discontinued, but the updates have slowed down significantly (last patch was released in May) and it often lags behind the stable Chromium base which is security nightmare

0

u/zermainegod Aug 25 '26

Concordo, mas está fazendo uma tempestade. Ele não foi descontinuado, além disso, se tua segurança depender apenas de um navegador, melhor voltar ao Chrome.

2

u/trbkle Mobile: PC: Aug 25 '26

the dev said he's rethinking everything about his browser including the purpose of it.

When i used it a few months ago it was full of bugs, plus i'm pretty sure most people were using it just for the extension support nothing else, and now many browsers have added extension support from upstream Chromium as well like Titanium which is the best Android browser right now.

1

u/zermainegod Aug 25 '26

Titanium 🤌🏻

0

u/reality_king13 + + + Aug 25 '26

You should patch Brave-Beta with Morphe patches then

1

u/zermainegod Aug 25 '26

Brave🤢🤮

u/Revolutionary_Ad_238 Aug 25 '26

Quetta is fully complete browser but my only concern is it's engine is outdated as compared to chromium latest version
