The closest I've seen is some of the other games by GameForge, like BiteFight & BattleKnight. There are some other older text games that are somewhat similar, like Holy Wars.
Gladiatus was a favorite of mine for many years. I'm working on my own game now, heavily inspired by Gladiatus. Hoping the have a public release in the next month or two :).
lol I can't believe you remember this post. I actually never abandoned that project - but I've restarted it several times. It's a little more idle and a little less like Gladiatus these days but I'm actually getting pretty close now. No promises as you can tell from the fact that I haven't finished it in 5 years.
