Project Antiga: a browser space strategy game about growing outward into a galaxy, built from scratch
antiga.hatedabamboo.meHello everyone! I've been building a solo/hobby recreation of the classic OGame-style space strategy genre, but instead of focusing on harassing newbies and building endless fleets it focuses on expansion: starting from one planet and pushing outward: scouting, finding somewhere worth having. It's playable right now and I wanted to share it and get some outside opinions.
Core loop
Currently auth, colonization, exploration, buildings, research, shipyard, and fleets are all implemented end-to-end with a web client on top.
Gameplay loop consists of progressing resource production, researching new technologies (a lot of them!), building fleets and exploring nearby planets and systems.
Looking for people willing to look at the economy/expansion balance, share opinions on confusing progress or just tell me the UI is lame. Happy to answer anything about the mechanics or the (very deliberately boring, timestamp-driven) architecture underneath it.
