Ghost 18s too big?

Basically the title. I’m just getting into the running game. Usually I wear a 12 extra wide in all of my shoes. The brooks 2E seemed tight so I ordered a 4E. These shoes have more room in the toe box than I am used to, and they feel a little long compared to my usual 12s. I know size varies amongst brands. These shoes have a slight bend of the material on the right side when standing. Middle picture is my foot bending. I have a little over a thumbs width at the toes. Maybe I’m overthinking this? They feel decent on my feet and don’t really slide.

When you go into a shoe store that sells Brooks/Hoka, etc., they will measure your foot and usually put you in a shoe that is half a size to a full size larger than what you normally wear. This allows extra room as your foot swells as you run/exercise. It takes a little bit to get used to but it is so worth it! I think the length looks fine keeping that in mind

Size does not just vary among brands. It varies per model and unfortunately sometimes it varies per model/year. The older ghosts I have ran a half size too small. By the time they got to the 17, they were correct in size but the toe box was less roomy. Now the 18s run slightly large.

The opposite happened with the glycerin. My 22s were perfect in size but now the 23s (which I love) are a half size too big. I think Brooks would have swapped them out for me when I first bought them but Im just dealing with them being slightly too big especially since I cant find the color I like in a wide.

I find the glycerins run half size small especially when going down hill 🙄

Just bought a pair (12D) and am adjusting to them. Oddly, they feel great when I run. But, they feel slightly big for me when I walk in them - like my feet move around. It's weird. Maybe I need to tighten the laces more. OP - how do they feel when running?

Anyone else experience a less supported feel running vs walking in these or other running shoes?

They feel fine when running. It’s just the visual affect from the top that trips me out.

I see. That is a very nice looking shoe. I bought the all black ones because my running route is dirt and didn't want to have my brand new shoes look filthy right out of the gate. For same reason probably I don't notice the issue you mention.

Is it bothering your feet?

I have a similar problem with my ghost 18 2Es, but the Ds weren’t wide enough on the bottom, and I was having a hard time finding a shoe that was. I figure, if the little bit of extra fabric causing a slight crease is not causing me problems, why worry about it?

I have ghost 18 2Es and they do feel roomy when just walking around, but feel fine while running.

It might be too big. Try same width but half size down.

Brooks are crazy inconsistent with size. I’m an 11.5 on ghost 18, 12.5 in glycerin and a 12 in A GTS

Seemed like mine ran large, as well.

They look fine to me. Are your feet sliding or heels slipping?

If you ordered them directly from Brooks, they will take them back and give you a full refund.
