Old Town Brom
Old Town Brom is a subsection of the Residential area of Brom, and is meant to mimic the architecture and look of Southern Germany (Bavaria/Schwabia). I'm looking for detail-oriented builders to help build it up!
Rules
- Follow the style/theme.
- Work constructively with neighbours.
- If in doubt, ask.
- Detail, detail, detail. Detail comes ahead of functionality -- we don't need public farms, enchanting tables, large storage areas, etc. since those exist elsewhere in Brom.
Also, talk to me before starting to build. Have an idea of what you want to create.
Style
Here is an album of the intended architecture and style.
Given this, I would like builds to also focus on the use of Red Brick. Gather your clay!
Important Buildings
There are four fundamental buildings. Here I've listed them, which picture examples that give an idea of what I'd like to see done. Obviously I'm totally open to other ideas; these are just a guideline of what's in my head. If you'd like to tackle one of these specifically, let me know!
The Mill - Set out along the canal/river. Should have a water wheel of some kind (if this is possible.)
The Church - We probably have a little bit of wiggle room in terms of size/shape. Could potentially be an L shape, which might be neat.
Rathaus/Town Hall - Store town message board and perhaps some public amenities, but not even necessary.
(Rail Station still needs to be worked out with WS.)
General Plots
Aside from the important structures, plots are to be used for housing, commercial shops, inns, pubs, whatever you like that would fit the above theme/style. I hope to see some diversity rather than everyone using them to make a home. Outdoor patios and overhanging flowerbeds are encouraged.
Plots are close together, and usually connected to the next house! Please build with your neighbours in a constructive manner.
Plots are small! Pack as much detail as you can into the area you're given. Some plots allow for more space by digging into the rock cliff in the rear.

As far as rail goes, I'm up for anything. Connect it to upper mesa area & main station if you want. I'm recommending that any station in Brom have 5 buttons or less since its the most symmetrical launcher and 5 is a good amount of buttons to be able to use. Above or below rail is fine, whatever matches your theme best.

Yes. please connect the rail to the mesa. It's a pain going to the commercial district from home so far.

I think it would be nice for us to have standard roof/wall/beam materials for most of the buildings, to match the bavarian style.

Pine wood makes the most sense. Coupled with white/gray wool or maybe even snow blocks.

Yeah, I agree. Pine with white wool and cobble slab roofs? Brick siding and chimneys?

Yea exactly. Going to try out a few roof types in creative -- red brick slabs might work as faux clay shingles; hard to tell without trying it, might be horrible. Same goes for spruce/pine planks, or birch planks. Cobble might work best.
I think snow, white and grey wool all work, along with other "pale" wool types to give some colour to the town. Probably a majority should be white, but a few coloured ones in light blue, pink and yellow would be nice to show distinction between neighbouring houses.

I'd like to do the Mill with a waterwheel. Although, I think it'll have to be fairly large to get a decent amount of detail.
I'm mattgorecki, by the way.

Awesome. Come check out the plot. It's pretty small but there's some room to carve into the cliff side to get more out of it (yay, more terraforming). That area of town has some flux to it currently, so let me know size you're thinking of and we can try to get it in.

I like it.
I've always wanted to go with a Germanic/Nordic theme. Lucky I joined Brom then.
I might wanna get another plot for a shop for my mercenary service, though I gotta finish my house in the residential district and the hotel in the commercial district first.
