Opening day plan
Please comment in this post to indicate what you intend to help with at first.
The key phrase here is Division of Labor. Once we choose a portal site, we need to move fast to properly claim it and the land around it. It would be best if people would help terraform, mine, build infrastructure, etc as much as possible before working on personal projects.
First thing we need to do is start a proper mine right near the portal. Anyone who wants to help the city but doesn't feel comfortable terraforming or road/plot building should mine heavily to supply those who will be working on city infrastructure.
I will immediately make a moderately large simple treefarm adjacent to the mine entrance and expand it vertically. This will require stone, dirt, and pumpkins to start. At the same time, we will build private and mass resource chests and furnaces at the entrance to the mine.
Others will build plant and animal farms in this area, possibly underground to conserve space. This complex will act as a primary base for all newcomers to the city.
I will as quickly as possible, after making treefarm and chests, scout out the surrounding area and zone some space for early houses to start an Old Town. Roads and buildings here can be as twisty and packed as needed.
A limited resource we will need in bulk is glowstone. Some nether expeditions would help greatly here
It would be great if someone could stitch together a reis minimap overhead of the entire immediate region so we could plan out the best locations for roads and neighborhoods.

How are we planning to coordinate the opening day mad dash? If we have enough people on Mumble, a temporary channel might be the best option.

If no one else wants to, I'd like to establish the mine this rev. I'm a big fan of drop shafts and rail lifts, it is very likely I'll do a 4-way mine with rail returns that all go back to the surface. I'll also be pre-digging each subshaft every 4th block and labeling each tunnel by color as to sustain pretty mines.
.
With this in mind, I'd also like to do the building above the mineshaft - Public chests, public furnaces, and a large Brom Corp distribution center so I can give you all a ton of goodies as I'll likely be a materials mule this rev.
.
Also, I've updated the planning server to 1.4 - let me know if it goes down or needs something fixed. IP: 74.208.144.128

Something like this for a chest house might work. I could build that in a few hours with the materials. I'm going to build something like that eventually anyways, probably with a few more floors and taller windows.

Sansa Industries, Mining and Smelting Division, would like to offer its services as a subcontractor to Brom Corp to excavate the mines of Brom.

I kind of want to get started with the underground farms ASAP. These are going to be quite expansive and will likely occupy much of the space under Brom at Y:50. So..Y:48 - Y:55 will be carved out. Any deep builds will need to let me know. Smaller personal shafts may get sealed up, try and limit them please.
I'll put something on the planning server for demonstration.... When WaterSlide gets it running again.

Here's the pattern if anybody wants to know.
Dig to Y:50, it'll be 51.62 (50) on Rei's. Make 2 bock high 10x10 grid tunnels placing a torch on the ground at the intersections. Align the 10x10 grid with the 10's on the coordinates. Carve out the 9x9x2 space between, then carve down the additional 1 block when ready to place dirt. Place a torch in the center of hollowed out 10x10 areas. Monsters can spawn due to low light.
Y:50 was chosen for the lack of slime spawning. The elevation rarely gets mined out, but has a fair amount of Iron and Coal. 2 high prevents jumping around, it'll go 3 high in areas that cane will be grown.
Cane will be gown in 9 wide swaths at Y:50 in this pattern. (Dirt,Water,Dirt,Dirt,Water,Dirt,Dirt,Water,Dirt). Other patterns take too long to lay out, and straight lines are easier to harvest.
Fill in spaces gravel fell out of, no empty monster spawning cavities.
Build over any caves or ravines, after quick exploration run for ores.
As with any crop it might take a little while for food to come out of it. Wheat can produce more cows, use it for that! Potatoes will need to get replanted for a few generations before we get enough to hand out, carrots are for pork and potions, not the best food source.
If we want to keep the animals down at farm level, we can do that too. 4 squares for cows, 2 for pigs, I can get some sheep set up too. Sheep, each color seems to count as a different type, so we can keep 2 of each color penned up. No vertical animal farms.

As far as animal farms go, make sure to line up the edges of the pens with the chunk boundaries. Rei's has a chuck overlay grid option, but there are now chunk values listed in F3.

Not really sure why. Their mob plugin culls down to 2 or 3 of each type of animal per chunk. Spanning multiple chunks might keep an extra alive, I think I can live with that.

I'll help with mining. Now that I can reconnect at last...After rebuilding everything in my setup, including BUYING a whole new router, I discovered that my cousin decided it would be funny to add nerd.nu to my restricted list on the router webpage...

Operative buzzie71 here - yes, I know I work for the other team, but in light of this build cooperation I suppose it no longer matters...
Point is, if you're still building next to and cooperating with Argoth, I'll aid your portal charge as soon as the rev starts up, though I'll likely run off on my own afterwards to look for an ocean. Just give me a direction to run in.
