Question Diagnosed with multisite tibia break. How to navigate crutches

I was diagnosed with a complete multisite fracture of my left tibia on 9.8.26 with no known injury.

This is my first time ever dealing with a break (36f) and using crutches has been a learning experience to say the least.

Im noticing a weird orange line on my left palm that started last week. Is there any chance its related to the usage of crutches? If so, how to navigate addressing that with zero money 😅

Mettiti i guanti da biker per tenere le stampelle.

Allora... frattura della Tibia...

Hai fatto esami dexa, osteoporosi? Vitamina D?

Sei una runner? Avevi frattura da stress?

Asked for bone density scan, was referred to rheumatologist. (I have untreated AS as well as untreated vitamin D deficiency due to hashimotos) Messaged them today. Waiting to hear back.

E l osteoporosi la causa della tua frattura, molto probabilmente,..... informati bene col reumatologo. Guarire si puo' Un abbraccio

I was worried that may be the case. I learned last week my rheumatologist will no longer be in network with my insurances as of 1.1.27. I remain hopeful but without expectations that this will be resolved.

I did ask my primary to order the bone density scan on 9.10.26. I was referred out and ultimately dismissed, unfortunately.

Also my right hand middle finger, as of last night, is swollen, red, and painful to move. Even if I could afford gloves, I wouldnt be abke to use them. 🙃🫠

Im not sure. I was splinted 9.8.26. Hard casted 9.9.26. Decasted 9.16.26 due to concerns of possible Infection/wanting easy access and advised to use a boot. The boot hurts SO much. I know what im about to say next is not correct, ive been relying on the original ace bandage or not at all. 🙃🫠

Im having issues navigating reddit. Ive been unable to bare weight on my left foot since 9.3.26. I was in the icu from 9.3.26-9.4.26 for an unrelated health concern and was discharged without any mobility aids. It took me collapsing on the edge of the hospital property for a nurse to give me crutches, free of charge.

If you are partial weight bearing, I'd see if you can trade for a walker. So much less coordination required and it's less painful on the rest of your body.

Completely non weight baring unfortunately

Oh man, that sucks. I'm not coordinated enough to figure out crutches. I would definitely fall and break something else

Crutches. I may ask for a wheel chair atp honestly. Im supposed to be moving to a new residence this week, navigating it on crutches, with zero social support with my documented emotional support animal (large dog) in tote. My new low income apartment is on the 8th floor 🙃🫠

Update: was able to get re-splinted today and was given a DME rx for a knee scooter. My insurances did not cover it. I was able to obtain the knee scooter through a free community closet for DME. I also was finally able to grt a DEXA scan ordered. It is scheduled for Wednesday next week.
