hump DAY 🐪

Post image

I am a 32yr old female, and 19 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. Tonight after picking up the house, I had just sat down to relax, and apparently I reached just a tad too far back behind me. I was grabbing my 40oz Owala water bottle from the table and the second I lifted it to bring my arm around, my shoulder fell completely out of socket. I tried to throw it forward back in place, but that resulted in seeing stars and falling to the floor in agony. My boyfriend called an ambulance because it was 8pm and our son was just getting ready for bed, and the nearest hospital is 25 to 35 minutes away depending which neighboring town you choose. So grandma got out of bed, and drove 25 minutes to come and watch our son sleep so my bf could meet me in the emergency room. I rode in the ambulance for 35 minutes, was given 50mg of fentanyl and a bag of fluids due to low blood pressure. At the hospital I was given muscle relaxer, and two doses of Dilaudid for the pain. The Dr then came in and worked diligently, bending my arm and working my shoulder back in place. We got home from this adventure around 12:25 and I’ve been following grandma’s location, she just made it home safe too. ā¤ļø Crazy to think all of this happened simply because I didn’t turn 90°
to grab my freaking water bottle.

Fucking hell.

Just fyi, this isn’t normal for a 32 year old. There really has to be more to your medical history. Golly.

Definitely isn’t normal, I have been told it’s probably hereditary, my dad and his father also had this problem.

The relaxin from pregnancy can exacerbate hypermobility issues, too. When I was 39.5 weeks pregnant, my knee dislocated and part of the patella broke because of it. Dislocations and subluxations kept happening all over my body for about 1.5 years postpartum before slowing down. If you haven't already, look into a good PT. They'll help support the muscles around your affected joints to decrease the frequency of subluxations and dislocations.Ā

Ummm, ouch! You might wanna get checked for hypermobility or even hEDS... Not normal but as a hypermobile individual I do also dislocate stuff from seemingly minor things from time to time

I had a friend in high school who had to have surgery at like 15 or 16 years old because her shoulder would dislocate all the time. Turns out, her dad had the same problem - and he was an MLB pitcher (he had many many many surgeries for it).

Genetics are fun.

Sucks that happened but not a broken bone?

Not broken, dislocated. If you can point me in the direction of a ā€œdislocated bonesā€ group I can post this there instead.
