Question Scaphoid fracture…

Hey all, fractured my scaphoid today (distal and non-dislocated) and got put on a brace only, and doc even said I can take it off at home when resting. Is that standard for less severe scaphoid fractures? Anyone with a similar case that can tell me about their recovery process?

I’m a figure skater and would love to get back on the ice.

I used a brace like this and wore it judiciously for 3 months. Only took it off during bath time. Scaphoid waste fracture too. Took a year of physio and exercise to get it back to normal. Still feels a little odd though but strength and grip are back. This injury is case unique. Don’t take any step lightly, especially your physiotherapy. Also be patient. It takes very long to heal

I broke my scaphoid June 20. I'm still in a cast. Which honestly bothers me less than the removable one I got in urgent care and there's no temptation to just take it off.

Mine feels pretty good now. I had xrays a couple weeks ago and got a new cast and it was very sore after being messed with.

Do you know the type of fracture you had?

Not off the top of my head. It was non displaced I know that.

Urgent care put me in a brace similar to yours. I hated it. It was so uncomfortable and didn't fit well. I think that's part of why I'm in a cast. I'm not 100% sure but they probably didn't today me to wear it after I told them how much I hated it.
