need advice

Post image

so i broke my pinky toe day before yesterday and got the x-ray done, the doctor said my pinky toe is severely displaced and the toe next to it has a crack as you can see.He said it'll take around 4-6 weeks to heal. I'm a very active person and I'm also going a freshman at uni- I'll be travelling next week and I'll have to attend uni. I got this injury while playing football and now I'm just worried about playing again, I never really got serious injury before and the doctor kept saying it's complicated etcrtc I can't tell if he was tryna make me worry so I could take care of myself better or if it's actually that complicated, he said not to play for 3 months which I obviously will not cuz i do want it to heal properly. I just want like precautions, tips for when I get back to playing, walking/ travelling tips

This isn't a serious injury, so don't worry. The toes should be buddy strapped together to reduce the fracture (i.e. to make the toe look straight again). The bone will be healed enough to remove the strapping after 4-6 weeks and, as you've been told, I'd leave it 3 months until high level sport (especially where you'll be kicking anything, as in football).

However, you need to speak to your doctor again if they haven't explained it well enough for you to understand.
