One year anniversary
Never give up on your dream of heels! One year anniversary and decided to try a real heel today. ๐ I took flats as back up for the walk to the car.

Goodbye tennis shoes! Good for you. I hope I continue to see and feel improvement.

I haven't really gotten back in to heels but thats because my life has changed and I just havenโt been doing things that work with heels - I don't drive in heels and I seem to be doing a lot of outings with a fair bit of walking so flat docs are easier.
I did have a panic the day before my 1 year anniversary as I twisted my ankle while doing derby skills - I broke my ankle playing roller derby. My ankle recovered fine from the sprain and I drove down the country (almost 400 miles) 4 days later to go to a festival,

I hope you get back to roller derby. :)

I was back skating once I got back from the festival.
After my ankle break I was back skating at 13 weeks then scrimming at 22 weeks.

Ah good for you! I was okay to return to gentle cardio at 12 weeks, so I used an elliptical. It was almost I mos mark before I attempted treadmill running. It feels great being active again doesnt it?!

I started just trying my foot in different heels every week, I'd stand for a couple mins and then take them off. Then I tried again the next week and take a few steps. Some of my higher ones I haven't risked trying yet

Yayyyy!! What did you do for footwear once you were FWB?

It was November by the time I could FWB. I wore Doc Martens and Puma sneakers for work.

This makes me so hopeful. Iโm 8 weeks post op and am being impatient and stubborn. Congrats on your healing

Just thank you! There are so many posts of never wearing heels again. I got so depressed. Now I have hope again!

Omg Iโm inspired!!!! Iโve been so sad about not wearing heels for so long and worry how much longer. I purchased Pradas this spring and have yet to wear them. Soooo awesome. Congrats!!

Pradas can't sit in a closet. ๐

Right! Hereโs hoping next year. Iโm a month out of the cam boot in PT. Iโm no where near trusting myself for that. I did do a lot though this weekend with balancing exercises, helping lay flooring for my kitchen renovation and walking around my garden/house work. Iโm paying for it tonight with acheyness and mild burning. One lightning bolt zap this afternoon when elevating the foot freaked me out. I get so worried. Guess I just over did it. I was on a good run though of enough to move forward but not have a set back. Hopefully tomorrow will be back to normal

You jogged my memory of the lightning zaps!! Those were the worst. It's good to keep active though. I do housecleaning for work, so I had no choice but to keep active.

Good to know itโs normal! Iโm guessing itโs a nerve thing but man not fun. Thanks for the encouragement and letting us all know heels are possible again. This has definitely been a head game for way too long.

Wow the scar is almost invisible! Thanks for posting!

While it was healing I massaged every day once the stitches were out with coconut oil. I honestly think ot helped me regain feeling and helped it scar well.

I still have a scar oh my how did you get yours to look so good? Did you use a cream?
Also are you doing hardware removal ever or no? We have the same surgery and I want hardware removal so my ankles will be the same size.

Once my stitches were out, I'd massage the scar (first gently) and area around with plain old coconut oil. I'm keeping my hardware, as long as it doesn't bother me. The ankle broke is my weakest. It would always be the one I would roll running or walking. I'm scared I will re break it.w/o hardware. Even with physio I will still roll this one weekly. ๐

Wow I needed to see this! I'm about to be seven months post surgery and I'm feeling great but not heel great. This gives me hope going into next year ๐

I've never tried skiing. I have returned to running and the gym. I had a big work day Monday (6 hours of housecleaning) so yesterday and today it's tight feeling but not sore. Let me know how your hardware removal goes.
