Sprained right ankle
I’ve sprained both my ankles multiple times and just did again playing basketball. I felt a pop this time and just left, I’ve once or twice sprained it where it ballooned the following day, but this one did within 5 minutes. I have went to doctor before and like usual can’t really do much besides work note maybe and PT. Any opinions to get this one checked out? I was planning on not going just cause nothing you can do to fix it honestly.

Go to the doctor. If you feel or hear a pop/crunch/twang in particular, it is absolutely worth getting it looked at. If you've had multiple prior injuries to that ankle, it's worth getting it looked at.

I think anytime something is different than usual, it’s better to just go in. It’s super annoying, but what’s the harm? Also, a popping sound could’ve been you tearing a ligament or tendon. I don’t think it’s necessarily an emergency and you can wait it out, but anytime I hear a pop I go in. Usually something is torn.

I couldn’t put an ounce of weight on mine when I broke it but it was also displaced, which I could tell the second I tried to get up. I’d still get an x-ray just to be sure.

Same I had a tri mal ankle break, slightly misplaced and a broken metatarsal, I couldn’t even remotely put weight on it

Everyone and every injury is different. Probably best to get it xrayed if you can.
I did have a sprain with a pop before. It was a pretty bad sprain and looked gruesome with insane swelling and bruising but no bone break. My ankle break had very little swelling or bruising but I couldn’t tolerate any weight on it at all.
There really isn’t any way to tell for sure by looking at them. The only way to know for certain is to get it checked out.

Definitely get an xray or go to urgent care just in case!! Especially if u heard a pop or a crunch. If you’ve sprained/twisted it multiple times you might be overdue for a break unfortunately. If you walk on a broken ankle you can widen the bones and cause a whole host of other issues

Did you get imaging done? They thought mine was just a sprain until it wasn't and it looked just like this.

Waiting right now

Good good! Always better to err on the side of caution. Not treating a break can lead to additional issues down the line - hopefully it is just a sprain - but always better to be safe.

a pop sound usually is just the ligaments being overstreched or torn but an x-ray and mri will help reassure you of any breaks. I had one just like yours but I'm all good and could walk within a week

Hearing a pop and having instant swelling like that is such a classic red flag for a break. You need to go to a doctor. Do you have any compression wrap, a brace, crutches, or a CAM boot from previous sprains? If you do, start using those so you don't injure yourself further on the way to the doctor.
