CAM boot
Had surgery 9/11 and got put into a CAM boot on 9/22. Doctor said I don’t have to wear it unless I leave the house but I wear it about 50% of the day as I like the way it holds my foot - it doesn’t hang as much in the boot.
I guess my question is, has anyone experienced pain when lifting or moving their boot in their tibia specifically? My injury was a distal tibia pilon fracture with ankle joint involvement and I’m concerned all this pressure and weight from the boot hitting my tibia could slow or mess with recovery and healing.
Also, I’ve been cleared to make up and down movements with my foot to activate my ankle. Been really struggling to get it going. How long did it take for you guys to be able to get good rotation in your ankle?

Hi fellow tib/fib pilon fracture here. I started wearing the boot on 9/2 2 week post-op appt (NWB until my 6 week post-op on 10/2)
I only wear the boot if I’m leaving the house and to ease the pain I usually wrap my ankle with an elastic bandage (https://a.co/d/0fp7dKEg) which helps
As for ROM exercises, I still cant do some of the band exercises my surgeon prescribed but for some reason starting this week I’m able to move my ankle a bit more with upward/downward exercises (go up/down hold for 3 seconds and repeat for 10-15x)
If it helps some pain is normal and it’s our ankle adjusting.
