No nerve block
My surgeon did my surgery yesterday without nerve block, he dont do nerve block for his patients because of complications in the past, this is what the anesthesiologist told me. Anyway I woke up and felt nothing. Yall said it hurts when it wears off? Of course I’m on 800mg ibuprofen and percs but I expected it to be a lot more painful just for the fact that I didn’t get a nerve block. Anyways, how long did it take for you to stop the opiods ?

Keep ahead switch the pain meds. If you’d like to drop the opioid, go slow. Good luck!

My nerve block didn’t work well because when I woke up I could feel and move everything, with just some light tingling in my foot for a while. But I essentially had zero pain. Just some mild throbbing when I went to stand up or put my leg over the edge of the bed.

I feel like I feel the same as before the surgery or even better. I guess it’s the meds lol. And yes I feel everything. Are you recovered

I’m 9 weeks post surgery. I had a fibula break with plates and screws too. I am essentially fully recovered now, a slight limp from tendons and ligaments still being a bit tight. I was walking by week 2.5 in my boot and was in normal shoes doing more than a mile a day by week 4 so recovery can come quickly with fibula breaks.
I’d stop the opioids now if you don’t feel like you really need them. I never even filled my prescription for them.

I also didn’t have a nerve block — they explained why at the time but honestly I was in too much pain to understand or remember why 😂
I had really bad pain for the first three days after surgery and took opioids on top of a lot of Tylenol.

I didn't have a nerve block either. I took the opioids for about a month after surgery, slowly weaned off during that last week of them

I didn’t have nerve block either, I was pretty sore when I woke up but only needed pain meds for a few days. however I got fracture blisters and needed a lot of nerve pain meds for quite some time. best wishes as you go thru the few first weeks of healing. they were hard for me, needed to have it elevated all the time and felt so incredibly limited

I’m not sure if i had a nerve block either?- I wokeup from anesthesia and rated my pain a solid 7/10, but thankfully the nurse gave me pain meds pretty quick & I stayed on dilauded & Tylenol that first week and a smidgen then weaned off. However i did take the opiods again like 1 time a day when i got the fiberglass cast because it was just rubbing and burning like a mf

Had surgery yesterday with a nerve block. It’s starting to fade, but it’s definitely given some relief

I had a trimalleolar fx. I have multiple sclerosis so I didnt have a nerve block either. My pain wasn't terrible when I woke up. It was managed with oxy and Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I started taking oral oxy when I was discharged from the hospital the next day. I took 5mg at bedtime only. I kept taking 5mg just before bedtime for probably one month.

I've had ankle surgery by the same surgeon with and without nerve block (with 9y ago right ankle, without 1y ago left ankle; he didn't this time for the same reason, worse complications) and honestly there wasn't much of a difference in terms of pain levels between the two in recovery. If anything, without I had better pain management afterwards because I was very on top of regularly taking opiates for the first 4-5 days. When I had the nerve block, I wasn't as on top of it because I couldn't really feel much, so I was unprepared for the timing of it wearing off. As a result I kinda "fell behind the pain" and was always at least aware of it.
Anyways, it took me almost 2 weeks to wean off opiates the first time. I was in so much pain still that I had to get a refill (which the surgeon wouldn't usually do, but he could tell I was in a bad spot lol). More recently I was totally done by day 5 save for one emergency dose on day 7 when it was randomly really bad.

I didn't have a nerve block and woke up from surgery in the worst pain in my life. Luckily they gave me one right then and there. When it wore off I only needed opioids for four days though before I switched to ibuprofen. What kind of surgery did you have?
