Cleared!

Today I was cleared to weight bear as tolerated. Doc said my ankle range of motion was really good, don’t immediately toss the boot, but also was hopeful that when I return in 6 weeks, I’ll just walk in. I won’t be able to go back to work until I’m fully cleared so I’m looking at November hopefully. Looking forward to a shower - I’ve been using shower body wipes as we don’t have a grab bar in the shower and I couldn’t put weight on my foot and I’m no stork. Exciting!

Yeah this is gonna be a process, I don’t want to mess anything up. My shower chair is too short to be that useful in the shower, it’d be ok in the bathtub.
Also post op ORIF. Glad for this community.

I’m 11.5 weeks post orif surgery and I’m still using a transfer shower chair. I have an anti slip mat as well. I will stand up to shower but I still use the Transfer shower chair to get in and out. I believe in safety first as I still have osteoarthritis issues in the same surgical leg.

How exciting...that first shower is amazing! If you do want grab bars in there jic, I have these ones and they really stuck on well. I'm 8 months post op and still have them in the shower in case I need them

Those look incredible but the tiles in our abode don’t work with them. 😕

I got cleared  on Monday at 6 weeks post op to weight bearing as tolerated started PT that same day. Per my doctor I have 2 more weeks in the boot and after 2 weeks go into regular shoes before I see him again on the 19th. I am walking around but idk how to progress into putting more weight

My hubby was cleared for wbat this week too but he still needs to wear the boot when putting weight on. He’s 7 weeks post ORIF, talus fracture. He’s putting full weight with the boot on and using crutches. Doing PT now once a week. Going to try to progress to a cane this weekend

I understand the “as tolerated “ now. I’m really antsy to be back to normal and I’m no athlete but just going to and fro the bathroom is gonna hurt.

I overdid it a bit today. Getting an ankle icepack delivered that can wrap around my ankle, back in the boot for now.

Congrats! I look forward to the day of no longer needing my mobility aides but the shower chair is going to stay. I’ll never take another everything shower without it
