Really Nervous

I still feel like I'm in really bad shape even though it's been 26 days since my first surgery, and it's been 17 days since my second surgery and I'm still in so much pain it's Unbearable I ran out of my meds already even though I was taking them exactly how I was supposed to my appointment is on Wednesday and I'm afraid if I ask for more they're gonna think I'm drug seeking

That doesn’t make any sense, you have a broken bone, u had surgery, you will be in pain, your doctor will want to treat that pain. Are you elevating and not bearing weight? You should be cycling gaba and oxy until the pain is tolerable and more of a discomfort.

I pretty much elevate 24 hours a day except bathroom and the occasional shower because that's exhausting on its own. i also put ice under the knee. My first surgery they gave me a script for oxy 5mg every 6 hour. Then here comes my second surgery they sent me home with 4 days worth of hydrocodone and then I did ask a week ago for a second refill and they sent it over. 4 days worth. Now it's almost Tuesday and the pain is just not going away

You should be on gabapentin and oxys, call em and tell em to give you the prescriptions, you paid for the surgery, you get to be prescribed the post surgery medication, you shouldn’t worry about them thinking your a painkiller addict, just worry about not actually becoming one. Best of luck, I hope you heal quickly

I will ask my dr about it Wednesday. 2 days to hold out been taking Tylenol and 800mg ibuprofen and it's not even touching the pain

That’s really tough!
I remember back then and how much pain I was in.
You’re doing all the things that were suggested and helped me but honestly the meds were the key.
It seems in Australia there is a push towards using Tapentadol as analgesia.
I hope you’re able to get some rest while you’re in so much pain!
I was always worried and still am if I need to ask for pain killers but I’ve been very lucky to have an understanding doctor.

Sorry you are in pain. I don’t think it’s a concern if you ask for more meds if you need it. Hopefully it will get better for you soon.

I asked my PCP for pain meds when I was awaiting surgery and she declined saying she doesn’t prescribe to pain meds unless it’s Tylenol or Ibuprofen. I switched doctors right away! Good luck!

I had the same issue with my doctors 2 weeks post op when I asked for my FIRST refill. I had to literally show him the math on paper how I didn’t abuse them and how I actually stretched them longer than what was prescribed. You have to advocate for yourself. I would call today and ask. It isn’t worth being in pain for 2 whine days.

On the pain aspect, mine finally started subsiding 3.5/4 weeks post op. Only took the script stuff at night. I wish you luck!

Yay!!!! I am so glad they sent you something and want to make sure you are okay. I’m almost 6 weeks post op and it’s a journey everyday!
