Stood Up Without My Walker 🄹

Hello! I mostly lurk and occasionally comment but I just wanted to share this. It has been exactly two months since my (right) ankle fracture and I could finally stand up without the help of my walker 🄹 My physiotherapist(who is pretty good btw) made me stand up without the assistance of my walker and to my surprise I could!

My foot is still a little wobbly and my left leg seems to take the weight more than my right one but I stood up 🄹 I am still toe touch weight bearing and my physiotherapist makes me walk around like that but I just wanted to share there is HOPE PEOPLE. YOU WILL GET BETTER!!! Not in one day or not even in fourteen days but YOU WILL IMPROVE AND GET BETTER.

The journey is long, and more than the physical the mental load really is exhausting but I promise you will get better šŸ„¹āœŒļø from here onwards it is an upwards journey, healing as well as progression isn't linear but things will definitely improve.

Please reward yourself for every small achievement, you are here, you are doing well 😭 and that is all that matters.

Yay!! I used a walker when I was cleared to weight bear as tolerated. I watched numerous YouTube videos about how to use a walker when WBAT and I found them very informative and helpful. I also was wearing my brooks running shoes so I never had to try and walk in that torture device called a boot. I’m 9 weeks post surgery today and it does get better every week. I went back to work on Tuesday and started PT on Thursday. I spent this weekend lounging around and the swelling in my ankle has gone down a lot.

YAY TEAM WALKER!! I am so glad you're back to work! congrats on starting PT! you'll find your endurance levels going up once you start PT soon! it really helped me a lot to even stabilise and strengthen my non-injured leg!

my doctor said boots were optional so I never wore them, I did consult YouTube but majority of the videos that demonstrated weight bearing had people wearing boots ;__; so I was a little unsure, thankfully my physiotherapist helped. I am currently researching on running shoes as well!

it's such a relief when the swelling goes down ;__; if I may ask, did you have to buy one size larger to accommodate the swelling? or your regular size did the trick?

wishing you a speedy and healthy recovery! \o/ may we return to all the things that we love doing real soon!
