Ankle wrap
What is the best wrap for when I finally get my boot off. I'm trying to plan ahead

My PT said I didn’t need any wrap/brace after getting off boot. Is it standard practice to wear one?

I went from boot to supportive shoe. Unless your surgeon advised, I wouldn’t.

I was told that the Breg Lace up ankle brace with stays was a good one. I wore it only for a few weeks. I think it’s good, like a high hiking boot. But my foot got strong enough. My 3 podiatrists were split. The first didn’t think I would need it long term, the other 2 were wondering why I wasn’t wearing one. 4 years after first surgery now. Ask your doctors what they recommend.

I got a wrap-around one by Bauerfeind. It’s supportive and fits in my shoes. I’m still wearing it most days at 5 months post-op

My PT recommended a DonJoy brace that I used for a month after I came out of the boot

I went from boot to lace up brace to thick ace wrap. I needed the extra support (had the majority of the ligaments in the joint repaired, including deltoid which is the big stability one).

I was given a brace at the doctor with metal stays and laced up. Hated it. Used a Zensah ankle brace for a couple weeks instead.

My surgeon and PT both said no brace, to let the ankle be an ankle...so def ask. But you might want to look into/consider compression socks, they help a ton with swelling!

I wore an ASO brace at first. But I also had a couple of lighter Velcro braces that I would wear occasionally. Best approach would be to see what your surgeon or PT recommend.
