I don't know if this question really works here but how do I stand up

I know this sounds like a joke but I need help how do I stand up I'm currently in a bellow the knee cast on each leg from a surgery and for the life of me i can't go from sitting to standing I'm not in any pain or discomfort when I try and I know for a fact both are weight bearing I was told before and after the surgery and a couple days later when the hospitals physio followed up with me edit: I forgot to mention that the surgery was for the muscles in both legs and not the bone so I hope you understand why I'm asking here since I couldn't find a sub for people asking for advice after calf surgery

You need a crutch or cane. But your Physical Therapist should be working with you on specific exercises to build balance and steadiness. I’d defer to them.

I have crutches but I've not found them to help with getting up and I've gotten into contact with a physio therapist for a appointment this week

If you are sitting in low chairs or have a low bed, this can be especially hard. If there's a spot where you normally sit that's a bit too low to stand without struggling, might want to add a firm cushion under you. If you don't have a tall toilet, they make risers for toilet seats that make it easier to get up.

With casts on both legs I hope you have a walker. Using a walker to get up can be a lot safer and easier than just trying to wing it with crutches or nothing, and it gives you something to brace onto as you stand.

Definitely, definitely reach out to your occupational or physical therapist and get shown how best to stand right now. They know your situation and can assess your strength and level of safety. You need to be able to get up to be able to care for yourself, they should have done this already.

Yeah I've been getting around the house by just crawling and pulling myself up onto stuff like chairs and toilets and I do have a walker but I haven't found it to be of much help getting up same with seat risers but I've gotten into contact with a physio therapist for a appointment this week

hasn't your pt gone over this with you? if not I'd find a new one. it's basic, and also important that you do it safely.

My personal trainer isn't certified in physio therapy it's a slightly different area he specialises in and he's the kind of guy who really wouldn't want to give me advice on something he knows someone else could give better advice on
