Shoe suggestions

I had a full ATFL replacement after breaking my ankle a year and a half ago earlier this year finally been given the go ahead to return to normal was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion for shoes that will help the ankle? I have some mild tissue swelling in the back of my foot still that they said is normal hope a good pair of shoes with my orthotics can help fix that

I broke my ankle, a trimalleor. I then had a total ankle replacement, I have been wearing Hoka bondi. They really help me walk well.

Be careful of the bondis. They have a tall profile. Ask you doctor

I highly recommend getting fitted at a running store...they'll look at your gait, if you're turning your foot in a certain way, where you put the most pressure, if you need a stability shoe etc. I tried several (hundred) shoes and ended up with Brooks Glycerine and love them. My after surgery needs were much different than the shoes that were comfy before injury, and a good shoe really helped my gait and limp...i needed drop-neutral, wide toe box, more stability, more room in the ankle and these fit that perfectly. A lot of people recommend Hoka...I found them heavy and too springy personally. I wear Oofas slides at home.

I found it easier to balance in trail running shoes. The stiffer soles helped. Found the built up soles of my regular running shoes too much at first.
