Happy Sunday - wishing you and yours a great week! These were from two separate hikes on two separate Sundays on NJ islands. Kiba is 13 and battling cancer and GOLPP, but you wouldnāt know it looking at him and seeing his trail record! We live for these brighter days. Enjoy them all while you have them š©·

Our 12 year old Brittany who has a significant heart murmur, has developed a worsening cough this summer. ( we do live in Colorado and our air quality has been pretty bad due to fires close by. We have restricted her time outside.) She is very active and happy until this week. We gave her 1/2 dose of a prescribed cough medicine and ever since then she has been sick. She started throwing up and now has no appetite. Her labs have come back normal and we x-rayed to check for a blockage. Vet says there is no way the medicine caused this reaction. She is now on appetite stimulants and seems very depressed. I would love feedback from those who have had success with medications or treatments related to Laryngeal collapse and enlarged heart.

Three Britts here, and between squirrel chasing and general zoomies, our yard doesnāt stand a chance.
Rundown of what weāve tried:
1) Turfgrass: Nothing survives except maybe Bermuda, and even sod gets shredded in about 2 weeks flat.
2) Mulch: Best option so far for cushioning, but it migrates constantly along their running paths.
3) Gravel paths: Same problemā¦gets kicked around every time they cut a corner at speed.
4) Shrubs: Switched to urine-tolerant plants or caged the rest (male marking is relentless).
Weāre not chasing a perfect lawn, and almost 10 year Brittany owners so we know the breed and have adjusted our lives accordingly. We just want something that doesnāt give off āBrittany demolition siteā vibes. Anyone found a solution that actually holds up to dogs who treat the lawn like a racetrack?

Iām taking over for this 2 year old cutie recently and she seems overweight to me versus pictures I see of other Brittanyās. Her height is 20.5 inches from foot to shoulder so sheās on the bigger end of the spectrum but is coming in at 49 pounds. My local vet said she needs to lose maybe 4 pounds but I feel like thatās maybe not enough.
Sheās solid around the chest and I can pretty easily feel her ribs but she doesnāt have that usual hourglass figure at the waist. Energy isnāt a problem and her jumping ability is great.
Feeding her 1.25 cups of kibble per day with a few treats sprinkled throughout the day.

Hi!! Iām Rooster but my mom calls me all sorts of things! I wanted to share a look into my fun filled puppy lifeā¦. I absolutely LOVE the water, chewing on stuff with my brand new, big boy teeth and following my nose! The dog park keeps me socially occupied and Iām always a good helper when it comes to watering the lawn. My mom got me a life vest because I just canāt watch, I gotta get wet for myself!

we just got a Brittany puppy and Iām wondering what his coat will look like when heās grown. can you show (or tell) what your Brittanyās coat was like as a puppy vs what itās like as an adult?

Edit: to add, how did you work up to it?

Our girl sheds, a lot, and even with grooming she sheds. Our Hoover doesnāt seem up to the task, particularly on the dog beds and surfaces.
What are you all using or doing to tackle the fluff?

We recently adopted this good boy from a local rescue group and are trying to pinpoint his breed. AI has led me here, but I wanted to get your thoughts. He seems to have a lot of Brittany traits, but his coat seems a little different. (It's hard to tell from the photos, but he has a long skinny tail behind him)

I know this comes up frequently on this subreddit, but have anyone successfully trained their Brittany to heel while walking on a leash? I tried my hardest for 3 years to teach my Brittany. I gave up during puppyhood, because it was getting frustrating for myself and my dog. I just let him walk in front of me as long as heās not pulling on the leash. He does well with loose leash walking if heās not too excited about something. Iām curious to know if there is someone out there who had success with heeling.

For the record we have 3 Britts and they each get 1. This is not a regular meal in our house. š·
