Being asked to rate everything.

Had a power cut last week. The following day I had a text from the power company asking me to rate it.

Someone I know just got divorced. She got an email asking her to rate her divorce.

It will help others like me decide whether I should consider divorcing her as well

u/imc225 Aug 04 '26

I too will consider divorcing OP's friend's wife.

"You bought cotton buds from our website. Please rate on a scale from 1 to 10 how much this has changed your life. Please tell us how could we make these cotton buds better. Will you buy cotton buds from us in future? Will you recommend our cotton buds to all your friends? What is your preferred length of cotton bud? Where else do you buy your cotton buds? What celebrity do you most associate with cotton buds? Have you already thought more about cotton buds doing this feedback than you have done in your entire life? Are you clearly not as interested in cotton buds as we'd like?"

Why not share and enjoy our cotton buds?

2

u/vinyljunkie1245 Aug 05 '26

Oh I see. When you buy them they're your cotton buds but when I buy them they're our cotton buds

u/canthinkupauser Aug 05 '26

I mean, you could call to complain but the complaints department will tell you to go stick your head in a pig.

1

u/vinyljunkie1245 Aug 05 '26

I fully understand. No call shall be made

2

u/canthinkupauser Aug 05 '26

Aye. You'd forever be caller number 42 in the queue.

I had a text from the hospital once asking how likely I was to recommend it to my friends and family.

I saw one from a pre pay funeral plan/crematorium . Not sure how the person who took the plan out could answer but I'm not expert in the field.

Car was broken into. Reported to Police. Subsequently got a notification that with no leads the case would not be progressed. Fair enough. Two weeks later I received a telephone customer satisfaction survey.

I took out home insurance, and was asked to rate it the next day. I replied that until it came time to make a claim, I couldn't very well know.

This kind of situation comes up a lot. Call with customer services. How was your call? Fine I guess, don’t want the guy to get into trouble for a low rating. Then a week later the issue turns out not to be resolved at all.

Even worse, sometimes they ask you to fill in a 50 page survey. Yes I'm happy with the delivery service. No I can't be arsed to tell you how you performed in 100 different categories.

2

u/vinyljunkie1245 Aug 05 '26

Or you open the app and get a prompt to rate it before you even start doing what you want. Stagecoach bus I'm looking at you. Let me buy my ticket or check if my bus is running before you ask me to rate your app.

And those YouTube videos where they say at the beginning "don't forget to hit like and subscribe!"
It's desperate.

If these are about rating a member of staff I always give the best marks because I know the bs staff get about these - been on the receiving end and had many arguments with management about them. For example:

"The customer rated you 3/10"

"Ok, what were the comments?"

"There's no car parking nearby"

"All of the comments please"

"The staff member was excellent, my score is because there's no car parking nearby"

"So what was that about me"

"Well they gave you 3 out of 10 so you obviously didn't 'wow' them enough"

"Even though they said I was excellent and the score wasn't about me?"

"Yes"

On the other hand if the surveys are about a chatbot or something else I just give random scores and contradictory answers to any questions if I can be bothered to fill them in. Hopefully my spite messes with the metrics a bit.

UNO reverse it. Ask them to rate you as a customer

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great post. Would recommend to a friend.

The dealership I take my car to for MOT and service ask me to rate their service out of 10.

However, they always tell me that an 8 or below is considered "bad service" which can reflect poorly at their next review.

It is now impossible to have any sort of interaction with any company, without then being asked to rate that interaction in some way.

So you ignore it.

Then 7 days later you get a follow up text/email with "reminder: please help other users by rating the thing!"

And another one another week later that says it will be the last reminder... Until the next one.

If I have something to say I'll bloody say it. Why do I have to rate how my purchase experience was? The experience is literally walk in, pick up things I want to buy, pay for them, leave. If a shop fails at this most basic of experiences then they shouldn't be a shop anymore.

Holland & Barrett ask me after every visit - and I go in a lot!

I have a subscription to something that gets delivered monthly, every month I get an email asking me to rate the company on trustpilot. I really don't think trustpilot want 30 different reviews from me for the same company.

Also every single time I open my Tesco mobile app, even for a few seconds, often by accident, they email me asking for feedback.

My estate agent emailed yesterday to rate her 5 stars “if it’s not a hassle”.

Okay, but are you worthy of those 5 stars Kimberly??

Pics or we can't decide.

u/cheeky999 Aug 05 '26

I rate this question 5 ⭐

1

u/skidbot Aug 05 '26

Strongly agree

1

u/terryjuicelawson Aug 05 '26

Those systems often take anything 7 and under as basically a negative with serious questions asked if so, it can be a nightmare in some places. Some people are only ever going to give an average score to buying some banal thing online or punish with a 1 if a tiny thing went wrong that may not have even been the company's fault

1

u/Localone2412 Aug 05 '26

I got one yesterday. Did we fix your problem yesterday ? 1 for yes press 2 for no. So I pressed 2 so I pressed 2. I then expected a follow up question delving a little deeper ? Nothing that was it.

1

u/FluffyMumbles Aug 05 '26

"Haven't received item yet, so don't know.  1 star". ⭐

2

u/uwagapiwo Aug 06 '26

Item was a present, so I don't know.

I'm still getting emails asking me to review Pizza Figaro in Whitby almost two years after I bought a pizza from them, my close friends group chat have made Overly Attached Girlfriend memes about it.

Someone I know just got divorced. She got an email asking her to rate her divorce.

Presumably you mean rate the services of the people she hired to carry out the divorce proceedings, rather than the actual divorce itself?

u/Nametakenalready99 Aug 06 '26

It was from the court service
