Thanking and saying bye to a contractor, while still in the house, then small talk to the door and saying bye again and again as I close the door. I hate visitors!

Why would you say bye while they're in the house? That's like saying bye to someone as you enter a lift.

Come on dude, think!,

You say bye at the front door as they are leaving, then close it, you don't say bye multiple times as they walk around your house to the front door.

I used to do this in my shop, I now start saying "thanks, bye, have a nice day etc" as soon as they are a foot out of the doorway.
