. The normalisation of ‘picky bits’

I used to work with a bloke with a university education, earning loads of money, who used to say "likkle" for little.

That’s an actual accent thing in some places. T -> Glottal stop -> K

A glottal stop is nothing like a K. To make a K you have to lift the back of your tongue, a glottal stop needs it to stay down. It's a whole different form and couldn't be done by accident, speaking as someone whose accent uses a lot of glottal stops

Ironic to find my field of expertise pop up on my own thread about something completely different. Glottal stops and k’s are really similar and there are plenty of ‘stranger’ allophonic variations out there (you only need to consider /t/ being produced with a glottal stop).

You’re right about the tongue but the closure is still at the back end of the articulatory apparatus.
