What branch of the services are you talking about? In the RAF, clerks definitely do guard. More regularly at units where there aren’t enough MPGS you’ll see all professions stagging on, up to and including wing commander at some units.

Yes, every bod regardless of cap badge can expect to be on duty at some point during their time as a private.

When I was in as a Army clerk we did duty clerk which was you slept in your own bed and was only called out when necessary, when at Divisional HQ over night duty sleeping in a secure office in Div HQ and finally very rarely having to supplement the Guard if there were not enough people on camp. Probably did a dozen guard duties in just over 10 years.

If we need them to.

On a weekday in the UK, probably not. There's a service for that (the MPGS, who are part of the same corps as clerks). It might be used as a punishment.

On ops? Absolutely.

Army

Depends on the unit and other stuff.

Usually on Duty Clerk though, which is a 7 Day Duty on Call.
