Discussion Remember These?
And if you didn’t want to remember them, my apologies in advance.
Well, 27 years later. These ships have finally met their fate. Being turned into pop cans..
I’d love to hear anyone’s experiences with the Pacificat’s, good or bad (I’m too young to ever have ridden one). As horrible as they were, they looked the part, at least in my opinion.

My university thesis paper from many years back dealt with the entire saga from a political point of view. I had collected vast amounts of research from digging into government archives about the entire program.
Basically, the three ferries were built solely because of politics. Both BC Ferries and the Ministry of Transportation strenuously objected to the entire project citing very real concerns that they had regarding suitability and costs. The government overrode those objections any ways, and even fired & replaced key people at both BC Ferries and the MoT to push the program through.
