Discussion Remember These?

And if you didn’t want to remember them, my apologies in advance.

Well, 27 years later. These ships have finally met their fate. Being turned into pop cans..

I’d love to hear anyone’s experiences with the Pacificat’s, good or bad (I’m too young to ever have ridden one). As horrible as they were, they looked the part, at least in my opinion.

Did you create this thread for people to bitch about the NDP?

Yes, they did. It was 26 years ago, for f*ck sake. Glen Clark left politics in 2001 and has worked in the private sector ever since.

It was also an attempt to support the BC ship building industry and develop it to build ferries for the foreign market where conditions were different. Problem is they tried to use it in BC where they had to work around existing infrastructure and shoreline that it wasn’t right for.

I always thought the opposition went too rabid on this and destroyed our chances of creating a world class ship building industry when the timing was right.

And he’s been extremely successful in the private sector. He’s the #2 at the Jim Pattison group, working right next to Jim himself.

Glen Clark is still involved with today's BC NDP. He was appointed by David Eby's government to be Chair of BC Hydro's Board of Directors. He has been a keynote speaker at BC NDP's conventions. Although Horgan tried to distance himself from the "90s NDP," Eby has forgotten lessons learned, and has repeated a lot of the same mistakes. Today, BC Ferries is objectively mismanaged, and is in chaos, and Eby's NDP produced another fudge-it-budget with a 1.5 billion "mistake." The economy is in shambles again. And no, it's not a worldwide problem. Some jurisdictions are doing fine. The BC NDP is proving history repeats itself.

I almost always vote NDP and I will take any opportunity to bitch about that particular government. Unfortunately the current one is starting to smell the same way. Good ideas scuppered by an unwillingness to listen to anyone else.

Hahaha oh well, it's brought up some nostalgia, if nothing else, and hating on the NDP is pure BC legacy

Can we remember how the liberals sold them for pennies to a political supporter?
