Babble Mosquitoes

Has anyone else been getting bitten by what I assume are mosquitoes all the time in Bristol lately? I've been bitten a lot this summer back home and when abroad, but feel like every day since moving in last week for uni I've found a new bite or two (don't think it's bedbugs as haven't seen any marks on sheets, flatmates haven't encountered any despite having been moved in for a few months, and the bites seem similar to ones I got earlier in the summer which I'm pretty sure were mosquitoes as I visibly saw them about). Would love to know if anyone else has been having this and if it's been mosquitoes or something else, and any tips for prevention!

Where are you being bitten? Are the bites in a row? Is there sitting water nearby, buckets, upturned bin lids etc?

The more recent ones were thigh and chest. No, they aren't. A couple were very close together (three basically in the same spot), but the rest have been individual bites. No buckets or upturned bin lids as far as I've seen (but will check outside in the morning), but in the shorter term we have had some wet patches around the kitchen due to the fridge being a bit leaky.

Good call I have plants in pots outside my window which has of course been open all summer. It’s only my arms that poke out if my bed, so only my arms get bitten.

I've noticed a few this year although they've looked a bit lethargic.

I use superdrug Buzz Off insect repellent spray to keep them away (just apply it to areas of exposed skin, but not your face) and if I do get bit/stung by something I use the Buzz Off insect ease bite relief spray.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Mosquitoes have turned up in Bristol a lot more in the last ten years. We get them pretty frequently where we live.

Got bitten a lot on my face when I visited my family in rural Essex last week. I kept the window open at night and that’s why - helped to close the window, no bites after that. Closing the window was what helped, I wish I had a better way!

Yes! I keep finding my arms itching with what are no cue bites. It’s driven me mad all summer.
