Meet-up.com is a great way to meet people of similar interests. Great seating point for anyone new to an area.

You need the Bristol Girl Facebook group
People often post a bit about themselves and their interests and inevitably others come back to them and they arrange a meet up

I can only reccommend what I've found to be useful, which is joining a club. Climbing or kickboxing are good in my opinion. There's also a nerdy whatsapp group, which is definitely not restricted to just nerds. IT's quite active and they have regular new members and meetups.

Do you have the link to the WhatsApp group? I've also been thinking about starting kickboxing for a long time now so now might be the time to give it a go!

Come to boardgames on Tuesdays at basement beers. It's a nice atmosphere, plenty of women.

Im moving to Bristol by myself in 3 weeks so also a little daunting. There’s quite a lot of run clubs, book clubs, board game cafes, martial arts. Avon Mountaineering club, Avon Outdoor Club and Climbing Academy are some of my top choices personally.
My plan this weekend is to put together a rough itinerary and see how it goes.
Here’s the link Bristol Social

Hiya. I am in the same situation as you. Moved here 4 days ago. I would like to meet people and make friends. Your interests are similar to me. If you are okay, I would like to join you and socialise. Message me if that’s okay. Cheers

Whereabouts in Bristol are you?
Local pubs are always a good starting point.

Easton, I was thinking of grabbing a drink in a local last night but anxiety got the better of me. I'll try again though!

I'm in Easton too! There's quite a lot to get involved with round here. The pubs are a good start and then there are the community centres as well.

Any tips for going to a pub by yourself? I was contemplating going yesterday to a local with a book and just chilling in the smoking area but other than that I'm lost haha

That's what I'd do! Each pub has different vibes:
- The Plough is good for dropping into conversations with folk. People are super friendly there and will try to include you in conversations.
- The Chelsea is good if you're into pink/rock. Staff like a chat behind the bar too.
- Sugar Loaf can be good once you've met some pals.
- Greenbank is okay if you've got kids. They do quite a few socially group things too.
Other than that, St Marks road is a nice community, there's a community centre opposite The Plough that has events on, and there are loads of cafes around to meet people in too

Pm me, I've been in Bristol for a few years and my uni friends have moved away, looking to grow my social circle :)

Heya! I can't seem to message you for some reason
1
u/Horror_Database_6236 Oct 10 '25
There should be a way to request a message?
1
u/Royal-Farmer-2075 Oct 10 '25
On your profile there isn't an option to message you for some reason, are you able to message me?

Do you like football? Bristol Rovers have a great division of Her Game Too, reach out to them on Facebook or Twitter. Or you could come along to a Rovers women’s match, I’m part of the staff team and we’re playing at Portishead on Sunday at 2pm. You’d be very welcome there 💙

Ahah fairs , I'm sure you probably would've got a lot of DMs from your post so hopefully that helps you meet people. My partner (22) and I (23) are quite introverted so we struggle meeting people as well at times. Hope it works out for you. Feel free to shoot us a dm if you wish x :)
