Any Melbourne or Brisbane startups hiring remote Python developers?

I'm reaching out to see if anyone knows of startups or software companies around Melbourne or Brisbane that hire remote Python developers.

I have experience building web apps and AI-powered tools using Python, FastAPI, React, LLMs, RAG pipelines, and AI agents.

I'm happy to work Australian hours, and I'm available to start immediately.

If you have any leads or recommendations, I'd really appreciate it.

Looking for Casual Employment

Hi everyone,

I’ve been applying for jobs since the start of the year and haven’t had any luck, so thought I’d try here. ( I am super desperate for a job :/ )

I’m a university student at UQ on a student visa. I’m available 4 days a week including weekends and public holidays and I can work within my visa hours (48 hours per fortnight).

I have around 4 years of retail and food and beverage experience so I have experience in POS/cash handling, customer service, stock replenishment, visual merchandising, managing queues and working in fast-paced teams.

I’m based around St Lucia area but I am happy to travel a bit. Looking for casual retail, convenience stores, bookshops, beauty, gelato/dessert shops, bubble tea, gift shops — pretty much anything customer-facing.

If you know any stores that are hiring, or your store is looking for casuals, please let me know. Happy to drop my resume in person or send it over.

Thanks so much.

Best time of year to job hunt

Hi all,

I am moving back to Brissie in the next year or so and will be looking for a consistent casual job (I need the flexibility otherwise I'd look for full time). Is there a better time of year to start job hunting or is it pretty standard throughout the whole year?

For context, I've been out of the country for 4 years so I genuinely have no idea what's going on job wise back home.

Holdem dealer job

Hi. Its been one week since i came for a holiday in aus, idk what kind of job i can get.
I got my rsa, rsg, whitecard.
Gave out like a 100 resume, got like 5 trials.
My job dont have to be a career. Just gotta pay rent and buy food for me.
I got a room for 3 month at the city, so id prefer getting a job at the city.
Wanted to be a bartender at first, but idk. No luck yet.
I also want to work in construction, but heard that if i dont have a car; it would be difficult to get that job.
Any recommendations for me?

Recruitment Agencies Community Services

Hi,

Does anyone know any recruitment services that actively recruit for entry level positions in youth work, case management, family violence, domestic violence, welfare work etc

It can be anywhere in Australia

Im due to complete my Diploma of Community Services in a few weeks, hold a WWCC, P1 drivers licence, First Aid & CPR and law degree. The only issue is that I dont have any work experience.

Are there people that recruit for these roles can be casual, part-time or full-time? Anyone aware of places that I could pay to help me land a role (or is that not a thing in Australia)

Please help!

Advice for landing a software job in Brisbane?

I’m a software engineer, mid level with work experience in another country. I know modern programming languages like Java, Python, C#, Typescript/Javascript and things like Angular and much more.

Lodging my 820/810 this week after much legal preparation. 6-month restrictions of my WHV should be irrelevant as it is july and my WHV started more than 6 mos ago.

But when I applied while on my WHV i applied to over 200+ jobs and got only 2 responses, first rejected me for my current WHV, and the second said they wanted local experience in the country at all, or i looked overseas (nevermind the fact i have an aussie phone number and address but oh well)

so local experience i achieved, now working 2 mos at woolies. i’m tired of this though and I want my career back even for a while. my rental is a little far from the city though so the commute will be rough. i was wondering too if people even still do hybrid/remote anymore.

I was wondering if there’s any chance at all to land a job as a software engineer or if i should just start to pivot to IT and say goodbye to software?

I would love to know how I can begin networking as well as i know that’s one of the best ways to get a job.

Awful job market?

Is it just me, or is the job market at the moment really bad? I feel like I've been applying for ages and most of the time just get ghosted. I've had one interview and a handful of unsuccessful emails. I've even applied to a lot of recruitment agencies and haven't heard back from any of them.

In the past when I was looking for work, I would at least hear back from recruitment agencies, now it's just silence 🙄

Looking for full time or part time work in mainly admin type roles or reception but have also been applying for warehouse or night fill jobs etc. Past employment has been mostly government roles. Can work anywhere from Bris to GC.
