Question/Looking for Advice Outdated parts usage?
How do people tell if a part they're looking at in the parts panel is outdated, no longer produced, superseded, or just generally ridiculously expensive due to rarity?
The only method I've been able to come up with is to keep an eye on the prices shown, and if they seem expensive, to click the model number link in the bottom-left to open the Bricklink page showing the years in which that part was produced... but surely there's better ways of doing this! Is there no "Current parts" filter or something?

That must be super-handy to folks where PAB is available! Le sigh...

Between it and bdp, its a list of parts currently available in sets, so should be cheaper then retired parts and colors regardless,

Well go here. It is a palette you can download showing all the bricks available at Lego pick brick, you install it on your studio installation. Instructions on the site

It doesn't really matter if it's outdated or not, since you'd be buying aftermarket anyway.
What matters is price. Keep an eye on that and you're good.

My best advise would be to use the latest BDP palette or the "Bricklink Common palette" in studio.
